Juniper Canyon — Big Bend National Park

Hiking drives most visits to Juniper Canyon, where the Lost Mine Trail sits within reach and offers a moderately difficult route with open sightlines toward the Chisos Mountains. Access requires a high-clearance vehicle on a Jeep road. No facilities are on-site, making this a primitive drive-up backcountry site. Wildlife sightings run to lizards, deer, rodents, and birds rather than other campers. Bring all water and supplies, as tent camping spots near Big Bend National Park vary widely in services, and Juniper Canyon provides none.
