At One Time Probably Was Awesome

The pictures posted of this site are outdated. A fire came through this area a couple of years back and the site was ravaged by the fires. The cactus have recovered, but any tree of any sort is burned. It will be years before it returns to its beauty. The dirt in the campsite is a dark grey due to the ash. That said the views from the rim are awesome and you will more than likely not see anyone else in the area from dusk to dawn. Star viewing is incredible. The rating of a 3 is an average of location and views (5) and condition of the site itself (1).

Awesome site!

Really enjoyed this campsite but the wind was INTENSE. So intense that we needed one person to weigh down a tent for the other to use the restroom (yes the tents were staked down). Gorgeous views... but the wind was the main conversation topic as it kept us up a majority of the night. It wasn’t windy when we set up camp though, so beware. Not sure if that’s a rare occurrence or typical for this site.
