    Nice Park

Beautiful facilities including main building with laundry, bathrooms, and community area. Pool, hot tub, fishing pond, propane, place to wash your dog, and dog walk. Huge park and lovely outdoor patio with outdoor kitchen and walk near the pond. Friendly staff. A little noisy with train tracks and airport nearby.

Beautiful grounds, great pool and fantastic gym!

Normally I stay away from the pool at campgrounds, bc they are overrun with kids and look pretty dingy. However, this one is like hotel quality and the hot tub is clean. The gym is pretty awesome too! I'm not big on amenities, bc they are always lackluster... but when done right, wow! We were at a PT FHU right up front by the gate with a little plot of grass and nice metal picnic table. There was a little confusion about the site, but the staff was great. We will 100% stay here again.

This place is awesome. Office staff was very friendly and helpful. The resort is well maintained and has a ton of awesome amenities! A gym, great swimming pool and hot tub, a computer room, laundry, sparkling bathrooms, coffee bar and a popcorn station, too! There are nice pavilion to cook out at and roast marshmallows. There’s a super cute little bar area with a fridge for your beers and a tv to watch the game. I can’t say enough good things. I was definitely impressed. We will be coming back here!

    Highway 6 RV Resort

    Dog friendly and Luxurious Poolside

This is by far our favorite campground so far. Dont let the name fool you. HWY 6 reminded us of motel 6 so we were hesitant at first but we are so glad we stayed. They have 2 dog runs, one of them being the largest dog run weve seen at a campground so our mali really got to sprint it out. They also had a free dog wash! both out doggos got washed and it was easy to use with hot and cold water and a larger blow dryer! the pool was so fancy and the water was lukewarm from the warm son so night swims were the best. They have adult pool hours from 8pm-10pm so. Bring your cocktails and music and have a good time! Also the hot tub was so hot it relaxed all your muscles. There isnt a lot of trees for shade but the fountain pond in the center kept everything cooler. 30/50 amp water and sewage, back in, great free wifi! all paved level sites.

We visited the houston zoo, houston aquarium, and rooftop cinema club!

    Rude Staff

I stayed here for 3 months and the manager Robert was very biased and unhospitable towards me the entire time. So I complained to the district manager Marty and told him I would not be extending my stay and would leave at end of month. He agreed and said I would get back my $50 deposit which is required for 5 days notice to move out (I was giving 2 weeks notice which is much more than the required 5 days). Upon checking out at the end of my stay Robert of course did not refund my $50 forcing me to call Marty again (Will update if I ever get my $50 back). On the final email they sent me with my electricity usage I noticed they changed my name to BLACKLIST and when I asked Marty he said 'correct you will never stay at one of our resorts again since you seemed unhappy' so to sum it up if you complain aboout how they treat you; you will be Blacklisted and have to fight for your deposit back.

*not kid friendly *not pet friendly *not people friendly *very very noisy *pool failed inspection and water seems to be chemically inbalanced even after reopening (water smells rotten) *hot tub jets do not work *dog yard is not cleaned

Laid back fun for the whole family

We have been to this park twice now, once at a tent site and once at a Yogi on the Lake cabin. Both during Halloween time a year apart. What a FUN place to be!! Our kids loved that we got to go Trick or treating at a campground! But probably my favorite thing about this place is the waterpark. Really refreshing on a hot day, and the best part? The staff are usually pretty lienient about slide rules, so small kids and parents alike are allowed to ride! I just can't say enough good about this place. Can't wait to go back again!

    Rayford Crossing RV Resort

    Well Managed and Manicured

We had to return our travel trailer to the dealership for some warranty work and wanted to have one last little getaway before handing it over. We opted to stay somewhere in the vicinity of the dealership, and this campground had an opening. So, we booked one of the last remaining sites and hit the road!

Located in a suburban area north of Houston, the campground was very easy to find. It was nestled among nice suburban homes but still close to the amenities of a suburban city. We arrived after the employees left the front desk, so they instructed us to pick up our materials at the front office. We immediately noticed how well maintained this campground was. We easily found Site 21, a standard back in site. The sites are all concrete and level with a yard of grass and full hookups, which we really appreciate. We were surprised that our site didn’t have a picnic table like we thought, but we probably could have called to request one (wasn’t a huge issue in this July Texas heat).

This campground is more like a residential area. We noticed that many vehicles were gone early on a weekday morning. Many of the “campers” had potted plants and other items that indicated they were long-term occupants. There were many rules for the campground such as no items allowed on the grass or under RVs and no trash cans at sites, but none of these were unreasonable. Staff was visible throughout the day, often maintaining the grounds and collecting trash at each site (trash collection is each morning). It was extremely quiet, clean, and manicured.

Would we visit this campground again? Yes, if we plan to visit the Houston area for business in the future. We prefer the forest and the solitude that it affords, but this is a nice place to stay if you have business in the area. Rayford Crossing has amenities that may appeal to families with children such as a playground, beautiful pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, horse shoes, and fishing. The nice paved roads and sites and the dog park were nice as well. Our only complaints would be the price and lack of privacy, but I guess that’s to be expected in an RV resort near a major US city like Houston. Basically, it served our purpose.

    Cost-effective cabin, super friendly hosts

We spent Christmas Eve here in a cabin and had a wonderful time! not only was every single shelter/cabin site around us empty so we truly felt like we were disconnected from urban life, but we got to see wildlife! lots and lots of deer and owls. Bathrooms near cabins were under construction so we used porta potties, but they were nice all things considered. there was a foot-pumped faucet for washing hands outside.  trails at the park were nice and mostly shaded. cool view of the Brazos river

The best part of this park is the observatory, which has special events and regular weekend hours pretty much all year. It’s absolutely worth staying up late for this! Hikes and wildlife are good too, lots of easy trails along water for the kids, cool ponds, great little observation tour to climb. There are standard RV/tent sites, screened shelters (for sleeping), and rustic cabins, horse sites, and youth group sites. The sites are pretty spread out and maybe half of them are very shady. Awesome little park outside Houston.

    Pleasant Texas State Park

We had a really nice relaxing stay at Stephen F Austin State Park near San Filepe, Texas. Great little state park easily accessed from I-10. The 38 RV sites are all asphalt pad pull throughs with 30/15 amp electric, water and sewer complete with concrete pad for table, fire pit, lantern and all well spaced for plenty of privacy...big rig friendly. They have an additional 39 tent only sites with water and 25 primitive. Screened shelters are reservable for tent camping with 20 amp electric and water plus one rustic cabin with amenities. There is a$5 daily entrance fee in addition to camping fees. The bathhouse facilities are brand new. It's a small park but they do have five miles of trails for hiking/biking with views of the Brazos River. We enjoyed the wildlife; deer strolling in the campground every morning and evening, birds, rabbits, frogs, turtles, a bobcat and numerous owls. They have a Nature Center; however it was not open during our visit. The park office has a small store with sundries and park souvenirs. The nearby San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site tells the story of early settlers to Texas and is worth a visit. We made a run to the nearby town of Sealy to do a much needed laundry stop...small community with grocery, dining and fuel to meet most needs. Stephen F Austin State Park, A Must Visit

OK, this was my second visit to a Texas State Park. Simply said, I was blown away with this park. Driving in, deer scattered the landscape. Like my trip to Huntsville State Park, I opted for a screened shelter. The protection from the elements were well worth the $122.50 I paid for four nights. With electric/water, I was very comfortable and was able to use my electric heater in my tent. The shelter came with a locking door, although I don't think anyone would bother you anyway. There are some nice trails, including one that will take you to the Brazos River. The park was nice and quiet and the weather was cold, I absolutely loved it. The Park entrance has a little Store and the town of Sealy is just a few miles away should you need supplies. The staff was remarkably helpful and courteous. I really enjoyed the peace of this park, the Solitude and good energy force you to take in it's grandeur. Since it was freezing cold, (which I loved) the extremely clean bathrooms, with showers would be a welcome site. I was surprised how clean the facility was, it was even heated. I definitely plan on returning to the park, maybe gonna try out the cabin.

Ranger Review: Kameng Boots by Mishmi Takin at Brazos Bend State Park

    Campground Review

It's incredible that I was born and raised in Houston and have lived here the past four years but haven't made it out to Brazos Bend State Park until now! A quick, 45 minute drive southwest will get you out of the concrete jungle that is the sprawling Space City metropolis and into one of the lushest, greenest parts of Texas. Brazos Bend is a "Nature Lover's Paradise" - there is abundant wildlife. There is great fishing, ample bird watching, and lots and lots of alligators (!). Lots of trails for walking, running, biking, and horseback riding. The George Observatory is a pretty amazing feature of this park (but only open Saturdays).

We arrived at Brazos Bend on a Friday afternoon and were able to walk-in no problem. Walk-in rate is $12/day + the daily park entrance fee ($5 for adults, free for kids). I have a Texas State Parks Pass so we didn't have to pay the entrance fees (saved us $40 for two nights of camping!). Additionally there were several other great options including: Full-Site RV hook-up ($25/night), Standard Camping ($20/night, incl. water & electricity), and 14 Cabins ($80-200/night but have everything you could ever need or want).

We did a lot of nature walks, game playing, and swimming during our two days at Brazos Bend State Park. Summer is probably not the best time to visit any park in Texas - its hot and muggy and the mosquitos are out in full force. Bring your DEET. Seriously. Despite that though, we were very pleasantly surprised by the amenities (swimming pool, screened in picnic tables, fire pits, and tent pads!)

    Product Review

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I get products to test from time to time - this past weekend at Brazos Bend I tested out the Kameng Mid eVent Waterproof Hiking Boot by Mishmi Takin.

These boots have got it all.

First, these boots are hella comfortable! I was blown away how comfortable they were right out of the box. Over the years, I've owned many pairs of hiking boots and they all required a significant break-in period. Not these!

Second, they're waterproof AND breathable. Not water resistant, like actually water proof.

Third, the look great. All 3 color schemes are fantastic I had a tough time choosing between green, grey and orange.

Fourth, so lightweight. These only weigh 1.5lbs so even though they are boots, they won't weigh you down.

    5/5 Would Recommend.

    Fun!

We camped during the week and it wasn’t very crowded. Plenty to do for our little ones. Huge play ground closed for COVID but other things open we’re splash pad, water slides, pool, lazy river, fishing, golf cart rental and more. We will be back.

    Amazing park close to Houston

Great park. The trails are very basic but are fun to ride bikes on or go hiking. The RV sites are pull through with full hookups. The sites are large and have plenty of room to enjoy nature. The kids love just riding off on their bikes and exploring the park. We come to this park about twice a year as its a great park near Houston for a quick getaway weekend.

    Alligators OH MY!!!

Brazos Bend is alligator headquarters! This is my son's favorite park, right up next to Dinosaur Valley State Park. So first i'll tell you that the facilities are nice and pretty new it looked like. There are tent, group, equestrian, and RV sites, plus cabins and screened shelters. They have a few hike and bike trails, but nothing very challenging or long, but everything else they have is what makes it the bomb!

There are six lakes, a creek, and the Brazos river in the park, so if you go during summer take bug spray, or bugs will eat you alive. Also tons of spiders...so yeah. You can fish at some of the lakes, and most of the lakes have a viewing pier where you can bird watch and look for big alligators.

OK, the Nature center is the coolest thing ever!!! They have snakes, spiders, and lots of fun stuff for kids. My son got to touch a king snake and a baby alligator, which was so cool. They also have lots of planned activities going on, so make sure you check the calendar or ask a park ranger if they have an event going on. We got so lucky that they had a group of alligator hatchlings that they brought out for all the kids to see and did a whole informative, interactive discussion. They brought out like 60 baby alligators in tubs and showed the kids how they feed them and how they would release them back into the wild. It was the most amazing thing! They made sure every kid got to touch one, and there were a lot of kids.

So yeah alligators are awesome, but on top of all of that, there is an observatory in the park. If you go on the weekends they have tours and shows at the observatory. There is an extra fee, but it is well worth it.

Bring a hat, sunscreen, good shoes, and bug spray is a must!

    A good park near TMC

I stayed here for several months. Once your inside the gates, the park was clean and staff was friendly. I had no problems at the park. Close to the Texas Medical Center. The area around the park is a bit rough.

We love our large site and the surrounding park here.  Located just outside Tomball, Texas, this resort is creekside out in country.  Many stores, restaurants and attractions within a few miles of Royal Palms.

Wonderful campground with so much to offer

Starlink is pretty quick here and T-Mobile is smoking fast.

Management is kind, courteous, and quick to fix any issues. It’s a hidden gem of Texas to be sure.

    Small But Plenty

I think this must be one of the smaller state parks of Texas, but there are plenty of trails to enjoy nature, learn about wildlife and plants, and have some good camping memories. Plenty of trees to perch a hammock, plenty of room to throw a frisbee, and some of the better bathrooms/showers I have seen among state parks.

    Hot but beautiful

Going to this camp in the middle of August is not recommended because, wow Texas heat. But it is one of our favorites. Close to Houston but still feels wild. I love that the RV camp is pretty separate from the ten camp section to make it a different experience depending on how you normally roll. The trails are well kept and we saw some deer and rabbits! Do watch out here because there are ticks a plenty, make sure to do a check after hikes/camping!
