Best Cabin Camping near New Caney, TX

Lake Houston Wilderness Park offers well-maintained cabin accommodations with multiple options for overnight stays. The standard cabin units include basic amenities like electricity, beds, and picnic tables, while the larger cabin options provide additional space for families or groups. One camper shared that "the A Frame cabins are really nice" and that they had "stayed in the cabins here four or five times," noting the peaceful creek that runs through the property. Rayford Crossing RV Resort provides concrete cabin sites with full hookups, manicured grounds, and a quiet environment suitable for extended stays. Northlake RV Resort features cabin rentals in a secure, gated community with easy access to Houston.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Basic cabins typically feature simple furnishings with sleeping surfaces and minimal amenities, while premium cabins may include air conditioning, private bathrooms, and kitchenettes. Thousand Trails Lake Conroe offers "cottages that look almost brand new" according to visitor reviews, with easy access to lake amenities. Reservations are essential, particularly during summer months when cabin occupancy reaches peak levels. Most facilities permit pets in select cabins, though additional fees and restrictions may apply. Lake Houston Wilderness Park maintains several cabin styles, including the popular A-frame designs that accommodate smaller groups.

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and personal items. Kitchen facilities vary significantly between properties—some offer only outdoor fire rings while others provide refrigerators, microwaves, and basic cooking equipment. Emerald Lake Resort and Eagles Point RV and Camping maintain cabins with varying levels of furnishings, with the latter offering electrical outlets for charging devices at some locations. Several campgrounds maintain on-site stores with essential supplies, though selection is typically limited to camping basics. Visitors staying for multiple nights should consider bringing groceries from larger towns before arrival, as rural cabin locations may have limited shopping options nearby.

    Really Nice Cabins

I have stayed in the cabins here four or five times. The first two years we had smaller groups so we stayed in the A Frame cabins. The last three years we've had their biggest one. There is a creek that runs through it and it is never over populated while I've been here. The cabin we've used was flooded and has not been rebuilt so we are looking for other places to hold our Spring Camp out. I hope they rebuild.

    Lakeview RV Resort

    Rude Staff

I stayed here for 3 months and the manager Robert was very biased and unhospitable towards me the entire time. So I complained to the district manager Marty and told him I would not be extending my stay and would leave at end of month. He agreed and said I would get back my $50 deposit which is required for 5 days notice to move out (I was giving 2 weeks notice which is much more than the required 5 days). Upon checking out at the end of my stay Robert of course did not refund my $50 forcing me to call Marty again (Will update if I ever get my $50 back). On the final email they sent me with my electricity usage I noticed they changed my name to BLACKLIST and when I asked Marty he said 'correct you will never stay at one of our resorts again since you seemed unhappy' so to sum it up if you complain aboout how they treat you; you will be Blacklisted and have to fight for your deposit back.

*not kid friendly *not pet friendly *not people friendly *very very noisy *pool failed inspection and water seems to be chemically inbalanced even after reopening (water smells rotten) *hot tub jets do not work *dog yard is not cleaned

    Highway 6 RV Resort

    Fine place to live,

I lived in this park from October 2021 until mid May 2022.  It is a clean and orderly place.

I made good use of the showers and bathrooms that were always clean.  I also used the recreation room that had a pool table, shuffle board table and large television.  Each day there was coffee and popcorn available. Weight lifting equipment and walking machine were in the room also. One room had four computers and one printer.  The entire park is fenced. There is a locked gate at the entrance.  Residents have a code to open the gate or a remote gate opener can be used if a deposit is paid for the device. Across the street is a county park with asphalt walking/running/biking paths around the large lake. I stayed there again November of 2022 but was there just a short time until I sold my 5th wheel trailer. The park is a quarter mile of a major highway which has plenty of stores and fastfood joints.

    Rayford Crossing RV Resort

    Well Managed and Manicured

We had to return our travel trailer to the dealership for some warranty work and wanted to have one last little getaway before handing it over. We opted to stay somewhere in the vicinity of the dealership, and this campground had an opening. So, we booked one of the last remaining sites and hit the road!

Located in a suburban area north of Houston, the campground was very easy to find. It was nestled among nice suburban homes but still close to the amenities of a suburban city. We arrived after the employees left the front desk, so they instructed us to pick up our materials at the front office. We immediately noticed how well maintained this campground was. We easily found Site 21, a standard back in site. The sites are all concrete and level with a yard of grass and full hookups, which we really appreciate. We were surprised that our site didn’t have a picnic table like we thought, but we probably could have called to request one (wasn’t a huge issue in this July Texas heat).

This campground is more like a residential area. We noticed that many vehicles were gone early on a weekday morning. Many of the “campers” had potted plants and other items that indicated they were long-term occupants. There were many rules for the campground such as no items allowed on the grass or under RVs and no trash cans at sites, but none of these were unreasonable. Staff was visible throughout the day, often maintaining the grounds and collecting trash at each site (trash collection is each morning). It was extremely quiet, clean, and manicured.

Would we visit this campground again? Yes, if we plan to visit the Houston area for business in the future. We prefer the forest and the solitude that it affords, but this is a nice place to stay if you have business in the area. Rayford Crossing has amenities that may appeal to families with children such as a playground, beautiful pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, horse shoes, and fishing. The nice paved roads and sites and the dog park were nice as well. Our only complaints would be the price and lack of privacy, but I guess that’s to be expected in an RV resort near a major US city like Houston. Basically, it served our purpose.

    Double Lake NF Campground

    Personal opinion for my interests

Campground not full. Very quiet, sites not on top of each other (some more private than others), gravel pads for rv, tent, table, lantern post and campfire ring. Water & electric or primitive sites both available. My personal agenda is all things nature related. The land, peace, plants, birds, land animals and TREES, water sources and types. To enjoy all the beauty (in all forms) which our earth provides.

    Park On The Lake

    VERY close together/owner is awesome

We stayed here on Labor Day weekend. It was very packed. However at this location everyone sits right on top of one another. There wasn’t even enough room to sit outside and enjoy it. I will have to say the owner is VERY helpful and nice. We pull a 35 foot 5th wheel and he originally had us in a spot where our rig would not fit. He was so kind enough on a busy weekend to swap us to a different spot at the very last minute. We were right on the water and we got to fish. If I had to rate this spot I would give it a solid 7 out of 10 just based on the fact that we were so close to one another. No fire ring or picnic table. Bathrooms were clean and facility in general there was pleasant.

    Thousand Trails Lake Conroe

    Very well kept TT campground

The campground is well laid out. Easy access to sites, amenities and the Lake. Although its a small portion of the lake on the campgrounds side, you do have access to boat rentals,  a boat launch and plenty of parking. So if you have a boat, it will be a wonderful experience. Plus there is a beach area for families to enjoy.

The cottages look almost brand new. The campground even has a location to wash your RV or vehicle.
