    Midessa Oil Patch RV Park

Clean showers, laundry too. Campsite is cramped though.

We came here as it was late I’m the day and we had nowhere to stay for the night. This KOA had plenty of spots and some laundry machines and shower which was awesome.

It’s like a typical RV park, very close quarters. The facilities are clean, and it has a dog park too.

The site is right off of the highway and has plenty of traffic, so be prepared for lots of noise around. $40/night is what we paid.

    Looks rough but friendly

Park itself looks a little rough, and is close to the highway and railroad. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Maintenence helped my partner with our tail lights and refused pay. $40 for a pull through and full hookups. Cheap laundry.

    Mesquite Oasis RV Park

No shaded area, a bit pricey for what you get

$50 a night with full hookup, but a little pricey in my opinion for what you get. No shaded area. Does have a pool and laundry area. Roses BBQ within 6 minutes away was good. Site was pull through. There are long term campers.

    Midessa Oil Patch RV Park

    Only if you are desperate.

Located next to I 20 so get used to lots of truck noise all night long. For some reason even though this is located in the desert, it is covered with mosquitos. Very hot in summer and windy in spring. Smells like oilfield. This is currently probably going to be full with oilfield workers. Has a swimming pool.

This is a decent RV park there a lot of full timers here because of the oil industry but it is clean.

    Midessa Oil Patch RV Park

Nice staff however lots are small and cramped

Not bad for just an overnight stay, however the lots are small. Had a back-in site. Staff escorted me to the site and helped me back in (which was very nice), however was right by the road. The main part of the park looked very nice, but this was like the overflows area.

    Midessa Oil Patch RV Park

    Beyond friendly and welcoming

It used to be an old KOA, but it’s super nice & clean & friendly. it looks like there are people that live there or stay there for awhile, but it doesn’t bother me. Everything seemed clean. I showed up to after hours checkin & the fact there was spots on a map marked that was open, was convenient. I did call earlier in the day & the lady who answered on may 11, 2021 was sooo sweet & beyond nice. I would definitely have stayed here longer if I wasn’t just passing by. & would definitely stay here again. We’re having truck problems & making our way home & my boyfriend asked the lady at the front desk what she thinks the easiest way home was & she kindly helped us to the easiest way to Oklahoma then how to get to Chicago. Had to problems (:

Guide to Gardendale

Cabin camping near Gardendale, Texas provides travelers with accommodation options in the arid West Texas region where summer temperatures regularly reach 100-110°F and winter nights can drop below freezing. The area's flat terrain and proximity to Interstate 20 makes these cabin rentals popular among workers in the oil industry as well as travelers passing through the Permian Basin. Most campgrounds offering cabins are situated within a 15-20 mile radius of Gardendale.

What to do

Swimming pool access: During hot Texas days, the pool at Mesquite Oasis RV Park provides welcome relief from the heat. "Does have a pool and laundry area. Roses BBQ within 6 minutes away was good," notes reviewer Nomad Nurse Z about this cabin accommodation option.

Visit nearby attractions: Most cabin rentals serve as convenient bases for exploring the greater Midland-Odessa area. A visitor at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park mentioned, "It looks like there are people that live there or stay there for awhile, but it doesn't bother me. Everything seemed clean." The location provides easy access to both cities.

Use playground facilities: Some properties offer family recreation areas near their cabin accommodations. One guest at Park Place RV highlighted the "Amazing playground and pool for families," making it suitable for travelers with children seeking outdoor activities between cabin stays.

What campers like

Helpful staff: Cabin guests frequently mention the service quality at local properties. At Midessa Oil Patch RV Park, one camper reported, "Maintenance helped my partner with our tail lights and refused pay. $40 for a pull through and full hookups. Cheap laundry."

Clean facilities: Many cabin properties maintain well-kept shower and bathroom facilities. According to Aidan M. at KOA Kampgrounds of America (now Midessa RV Park), "The facilities are clean, and it has a dog park too." This review indicates amenities extend beyond just the cabin accommodations.

Affordable options: Several cabin rentals offer reasonable rates compared to hotel accommodations. A reviewer noted Midessa Oil Patch RV Park charges "$40 for a pull through and full hookups," making it budget-friendly for travelers needing cabin-style accommodations.

What you should know

Highway proximity: Many cabin rental locations sit close to major transportation routes. As one KOA (now Midessa RV Park) guest stated, "The site is right off of the highway and has plenty of traffic, so be prepared for lots of noise around." This affects the cabin experience at several properties.

Space limitations: Some properties feature tight layouts for their cabin and RV sites. Bryan W. observed at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park: "Not bad for just an overnight stay, however the lots are small. Had a back-in site. Staff escorted me to the site and helped me back in (which was very nice), however was right by the road."

Extended-stay guests: The oil industry brings many long-term residents to cabin and RV accommodations. "This is a decent RV park there a lot of full timers here because of the oil industry but it is clean," explains Charley K. about the Midessa RV Park (formerly KOA).

Tips for camping with families

Look for recreational amenities: When booking a cabin with children, prioritize properties with family facilities. Stephanie K. emphasizes that Park Place RV offers an "Amazing playground and pool for families," which provides entertainment options beyond the cabin itself.

Consider noise factors: Highway proximity affects cabin camping experiences with children. One KOA (now Midessa RV Park) visitor warned the property is "Located next to I 20 so get used to lots of truck noise all night long," which could disturb light sleepers in cabins.

Check laundry availability: Extended cabin stays with children benefit from on-site laundry access. A reviewer at Park Place RV mentioned "beautiful shower facilities, lots of washer and dryers," making family cabin stays more convenient.

Tips from RVers

Expect varied site quality: Within the same property, cabin and RV site quality can differ substantially. At Midessa Oil Patch RV Park, Bryan W. noted, "The main part of the park looked very nice, but this was like the overflow area."

Research seasonal conditions: The local climate presents challenges year-round. A reviewer at KOA (now Midessa RV Park) warned, "Very hot in summer and windy in spring. Smells like oilfield," suggesting cabin guests should prepare accordingly for seasonal variations.

Call ahead for availability: Oil industry activity affects occupancy at cabin accommodations. As one visitor at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park mentioned, "I did call earlier in the day" to secure a spot, indicating advance planning is beneficial when seeking cabin rentals in this region.
