    KOA Kampgrounds of America

Clean showers, laundry too. Campsite is cramped though.

We came here as it was late I’m the day and we had nowhere to stay for the night. This KOA had plenty of spots and some laundry machines and shower which was awesome.

It’s like a typical RV park, very close quarters. The facilities are clean, and it has a dog park too.

The site is right off of the highway and has plenty of traffic, so be prepared for lots of noise around. $40/night is what we paid.

    Midessa Oil Patch RV Park

    Looks rough but friendly

Park itself looks a little rough, and is close to the highway and railroad. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Maintenence helped my partner with our tail lights and refused pay. $40 for a pull through and full hookups. Cheap laundry.

    Mesquite Oasis RV Park

No shaded area, a bit pricey for what you get

$50 a night with full hookup, but a little pricey in my opinion for what you get. No shaded area. Does have a pool and laundry area. Roses BBQ within 6 minutes away was good. Site was pull through. There are long term campers.

    KOA Kampgrounds of America

    Only if you are desperate.

Located next to I 20 so get used to lots of truck noise all night long. For some reason even though this is located in the desert, it is covered with mosquitos. Very hot in summer and windy in spring. Smells like oilfield. This is currently probably going to be full with oilfield workers. Has a swimming pool.

    KOA Kampgrounds of America

This is no longer a KOA. The RV park is called Midessa RV Park

This is a decent RV park there a lot of full timers here because of the oil industry but it is clean.

    Midessa Oil Patch RV Park

Nice staff however lots are small and cramped

Not bad for just an overnight stay, however the lots are small. Had a back-in site. Staff escorted me to the site and helped me back in (which was very nice), however was right by the road. The main part of the park looked very nice, but this was like the overflows area.

    Midessa Oil Patch RV Park

    Beyond friendly and welcoming

It used to be an old KOA, but it’s super nice & clean & friendly. it looks like there are people that live there or stay there for awhile, but it doesn’t bother me. Everything seemed clean. I showed up to after hours checkin & the fact there was spots on a map marked that was open, was convenient. I did call earlier in the day & the lady who answered on may 11, 2021 was sooo sweet & beyond nice. I would definitely have stayed here longer if I wasn’t just passing by. & would definitely stay here again. We’re having truck problems & making our way home & my boyfriend asked the lady at the front desk what she thinks the easiest way home was & she kindly helped us to the easiest way to Oklahoma then how to get to Chicago. Had to problems (:

Cabin facilities range from basic units to more equipped options with varying amenities across different RV parks.

What to do

Cool off at the pool: During hot Texas days, the swimming pool at KOA Kampgrounds of America offers welcome relief. "We came here as it was late in the day and we had nowhere to stay for the night. This KOA had plenty of spots and some laundry machines and shower which was awesome," notes Aidan M., mentioning the convenient facilities available to guests.

Use convenient laundry facilities: Most parks with cabin rentals in the area offer on-site laundry, making extended stays more comfortable. According to Stephanie K., Park Place RV features "lots of washer and dryers" alongside their other amenities, allowing guests to maintain clean clothing during their stay without leaving the property.

What campers like

Clean shower facilities: Multiple cabin locations maintain well-kept bathroom facilities. At Park Place RV, visitors appreciate the "beautiful shower facilities" that complement their cabin accommodations, providing comfort beyond what basic cabins might offer internally.

What you should know

Highway noise levels: Cabins near Interstate 20 experience significant traffic noise. A camper at KOA noted, "Located next to I-20 so get used to lots of truck noise all night long," suggesting light sleepers should bring earplugs or request cabins farther from the highway.

Oil industry presence: Many parks host long-term residents working in the petroleum industry. At Midessa Oil Patch RV Park, a visitor observed it "looks like there are people that live there or stay there for awhile, but it doesn't bother me," indicating the mixed-use nature of these facilities.

Mesquite Oasis RV Park charges "$50 a night with full hookup, but a little pricey in my opinion for what you get," according to one camper, suggesting budget-conscious travelers should compare options before booking.

Tips for camping with families

Check for recreational facilities: Some cabin locations offer dedicated children's areas. Stephanie K. mentions Park Place RV has an "amazing playground and pool for families," providing essential recreation options for younger travelers staying in their cabin accommodations.

Consider space limitations: Many cabins are compact and designed for basic sleeping arrangements rather than extended indoor activities. Bryan W. noted at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park that "the lots are small," indicating families should plan for limited space both inside cabins and in surrounding areas.

Evaluate bathroom accessibility: Not all cabins include private bathrooms, requiring walks to communal facilities. The "clean showers" mentioned by visitors at KOA indicate adequate shared facilities, but families with small children might prefer cabins closer to these amenities.
