    Brazos Bend State Park

Hidden Gem in the Texas Swamp

We stayed at spot 128 in the Burr Oak. It was very easy to back into, the site is super wide and full asphalt. Site was very level. Bathrooms were somewhat close, about 4 or 5 sites down with a shortcut through the woods. Not a lot of street lights throughout the campground made things nice and quiet at night. The site had good Verizon cell service, around 25-50 mbps. The Tmobile service was around the same. This place is very remote and the park itself is huge, we only stayed one night but it has a ton to offer! Overall the campground was clean, very quiet, with a ton of activities.

    Interesting State Park Near Houston

We had no problem finding this interesting state park as our RV GPS took us right to the gate and we had been to this campground (CG) two years ago. This time, we knew better than to park at the office's stop sign to register, which is where most CGs have you stop when registering. There’s a sign that says not to park there but to pull forward. Last time we, didn't read the stop sign and got our butt chewed by a park ranger. As we are disabled veterans, we also got new Texas State Park passes, so we did not have to pay the additional$5 per person state park entry fee on top of the camping fee. You do not have to be a Texas resident but you need to be at least 60 percent service disabled. The same very nice and knowledgeable lady from last time checked us in and we proceeded to pull through site 17 with FHUs, but only 30 AMP. The utilities are placed centered on the site, which is nice. The water pressure here is on the low side at around 30-35 psi. The sites are nearby, but the spacious yard has a cement patio, picnic table, and fire pit. We had no problem getting our 40’ 5th wheel in the site but had to park our F450 at an angle in front of the rig. We got 2 bars on Verizon and were able to place our Starlink to get a shot of the northern sky. There are a lot of mature trees in this CG, so the satellite is going to depend on the site. As we checked in, we were told several trails had opened back up as the area was recovering from heavy rain and flooding. The golf course, now private, had opened back up as well, but there was still a lot of water on the course when we were there in February.

    Great! Will return!

Stayed on the beachside & loved it. Concrete pads, clean shower house, picnic table under gazebo, leashed dog allowed on beach, close to boardwalk for beach access.

    Houston West RV Park

    Excellent price!

Every other campground in the Houston area seems to be $55+, but with AAA discount I only paid $45 here! They were very accommodating when I called and gave us an easy spot up front because we were arriving after 8pm. Level spot, no fuss. Quiet night. Only downside were the mosquitos. Bring repellant! Altogether a good experience for a single overnight.

    ONE OF OUR FAVORITES

This park is really back in there as from the office to the sites it's a good distance which is nice. Level sites and more than enough room between sites. If you like hiking, you can get it done here, just watch out for the gators.....

    very positive camp

It sounds like you had a memorable experience during your stay! Friendly staff, clean facilities, and great beach walks definitely contribute to a positive impression. It's wise to prefer the bay side sites for a quieter atmosphere and fewer crowds. Watching interesting birds adds to the charm, but it's essential to stay cautious of snakes, as you mentioned encountering a rattler. Making reservations in advance seems like a good tip to avoid any hassle, especially during busy weekends. If you need any assistance with your writing tasks, consider checking out https://payforessay.net/ for reliable help. Additionally, having reservations in advance can provide peace of mind and ensure a smoother experience during your stay, allowing you to focus more on enjoying the surroundings and less on logistical concerns.

    Great State Park for Hiking/Biking

We stayed in spot 112 in February 2024.

    • Sites are very nice, wide, and (mostly) level.
    • Campground is kept clean.
    • Bathroom is a bit outdated, but still clean.
    • Trails are very nice and appear top be kept up regularly.  Just watch out for the alligators.
    • Don't forget to reserve a spot at the observatory on Saturday nights...

    Houston Central RV Park

    Good for long term

This RV park resides in the middle of industrial businesses. Not many know it is there. The area around is not the greatest, but you cannot beat the prices. Have stayed over a year and a half.

    Great Spot—Busy!

We stayed here almost 10 days. Did some jockeying around because we didn’t have reservations. Friendly staff, clean facilities, great beach walks, large sites. We prefer the bay side sites—quieter and fewer people. Lots of interesting birds to see, and watch out for snakes! We saw a big rattler on the boardwalk but we gave it space and it moved off right away. I would recommend a reservation to save hassles as this place fills up on the weekends.

Excellent Park for Weekend Camping Trips

We have been to this park twice.  Once as our very first trip with our travel trailer (Site 24), and once again this year (Site 13).  This park is really nice for hiking, biking, or just relaxing.

Great trails for all exercise levels.  Lots of places to stop and rest, or just sit and take in nature for a while.

Just be careful, if Google GPS tries to take you to the back gate... :)  It's a tiny road, and a dead end.

    Awesome location , great facilities

Starting to get busy, probably the best time of year - before it warms up and the bugs return. Short walk to beach, close to town if you need anything. Did not use facilities so no comment other than great 50 amp and good water.

Only negative is dump station is a challenge if using tote (no ramp, gotta haul up curb). Campground facilities says there is sewer hookup. There is not ( other than for hosts)

    Follett’s Island Beach

    Amazing experience

We drove our 32ft class C (with tow dolly attached) on the beach without any issue getting in or out, and we saw multiple 2 wheel drive vehicles drive allllll the way down the beach. The sand is compact basically all the way throughout the entire beach. The weather was cloudy when we were there but the potential for a beautiful sunrise on the beach is there. There weren’t a lot of people on the beach during the week, but the weekend was slammed with all sorts of trucks and cars parked on the beach. Some small businesses drove by selling goods from their vehicles, like ice cream trucks and flags.

Oh! And you know the scenes in movies where they have a campfire on the beach? But no beach ever allows a campfire? They allow them here!

    South Main RV Park

Good for proximity to NRG stadium

My husband and I came to the Houston rodeo and stayed here strictly for proximity to the stadium. The RV park did have a shuttle which was very nice to get us to and from. Most sites are large enough for big rigs, you do have to park on the gravel right in front of your rig which can be tight. Nice concrete pads at each site. Traffic can be loud and there are many full-time set ups here with permanent residents. Has a gate with a code so it did feel safe at night. Small dog park that could use some extra TLC. Laundry on premises, no play ground, good wifi and Verizon service.

    Basic stop over park

Mostly full timers. Older rv’s. They have a couple spots for stop overs. The people are really nice and friendly. Lots and lots of dogs but there is no off leash area for them. There is also a mommy and her teenager donkeys who like carrots and apples.

    Nice Park

Very nice FHU pull thru sites with 5 camp hosts, who, according to signage, they clean the toilets and shower facilities. Quiet NYE weekend with 10 FHU sites vacant! Two New toilet/shower facilities for campgrounds. A herd of whitetail deer wanders thru campground in morning and evening.

Galveston Bay RV Resort & Marina

Galveston Bay RV Resort & Marina is THE BEST place we have ever stayed at!!!

Annie, the manager, was very helpful and answered all my questions. She even came in on her day off to make sure we were given the correct waterfront site. I also noticed all the people staying were very nice and would say hello or wave if driving by. There is 2 nice swimming pools. One pool for kids and the other for adults. The Marina for our boat was perfect and inside a cove that was nicely made out of wood. I could see my boat from where our motorhome was and took 2 minutes to be out fishing. The fishing is absolutely AMAZING! If you don't have a boat, the resort has 2 big fishing docks with very bright night lights. You will catch a fish in under 30 seconds at night using a live shrimp. On weekends, they have a Palapa and do Karaoke. Also, there was Bingo and a painting party in the large community room. The Resort reminds me of being in Hawaii with the way they built and decorated. They just need steel drum or tropical music playing in the background and you wouldn't think you were in the US Mainland. 5 stars and highly recommended!!!

    Galveston Island State Park

    Nice beach park, recently reopened

We stayed in the RV loop by the beach. Quite a few sites but they aren't as crowded as some beach campgrounds. Really nice covered concrete pad with a picnic table. Nice new bath houses. The hiking trails are all through grassy areas with ticks so be aware. The beach in this area is nice and pretty flat so you can go out into the ocean pretty far.
