Fishing and swimming draw campers to Murvaul Campground & RV Park, which sits along the forested eastern shore of Lake Murvaul near Carthage, Texas. Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer connections make it a functional base for RV travelers, and a dump station is on site. Rates range from $0 to $225 per night. Lake Murvaul Park & Marina sits less than a mile northwest, giving anglers and swimmers additional access points along the same lake. Pets are welcome, and campfires are permitted at picnic table sites.
Description
Lake Murvaul Campground and Marina provides 19 daily/weekly RV sites with full hook-ups (as well as monthly sites), cabins for rent, and primitive tent sites located on the edge of the beautiful 3,400 acre Lake Murvaul. Amenities include a protected swimming area, playground, restrooms, boat launches, fishing piers, and picnic area nestled among the tall pine trees of deep East Texas. Lake Murvaul is known for fishing and is home to multiple fish species including large-mouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, flathead catfish, bluegill and sunfish. You can also bring your waterskis, jetskis, paddleboard or kayak, or just kick back and enjoy the swimming area and beaches.
Reservations are recommended - two day minimum on weekends; all campers and renters must check in at the office.
Check in time is 2:00 p.m. and check out time is 11:00 a.m.
Quiet time is 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Pets are allowed but must be on a leash at all times and any "deposits" must be bagged, sealed, and put in trash cans.
A $50 non-refundable pet fee is required for the cabins
No smoking allowed in cabins ($50 fine for violating this rule); please pick up your cigarette butts
No pets, fires, glass or alcohol allowed in public areas including the swimming area
This is a family oriented recreation area and no profanity, fighting, or loud noise will be tolerated; please be courteous

Directions
Physical address: 638 CR 1234, Carthage, TX, 75633. Driving directions if heading North on Hwy 59/69 (i.e. from Houston through Nacogdoches to Timpson): In Timpson, TX, turn left on Hwy 84 and travel approximately 1.24 mile; turn right on FM 1970. Continue north for approximately 11 miles, then turn left on CR 1234. Travel about 0.6 miles and you will arrive at the campground. Driving directions if heading South on Hwy 59/69 (i.e. from Texarkana through Marshall to Carthage). In Carthage, TX turn right onto US Hwy 79/State Hwy 147 and travel approximately 2.5 miles; then turn right onto State Hwy 315. Travel approximately 7.13 miles to Clayton and turn left on FM 1970. Continue south for approximately 4.4 miles, then turn right on CR 1234. Travel about 0.6 miles and you will arrive at the campground.
