Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature at this 3-acre paradise outside of historic Caldwell, Texas. Our spacious campground provides the perfect setting for a peaceful getaway.

Experience the beauty of nature with our prime waterfront RV boondocking/tent sites, offering stunning views and tranquility.

Experience camping in a private paradise by the water with amazing views of sunrises and sunsets. There's a good chance you will get a glimpse of beavers building their dams along the shoreline or see numerous rare black squirrels circle the many tall trees playing gleefully. Many species of birds and wildlife make their home here, including white-tailed deer, feral hogs, fox, coyote, bobcat, raccoon, rabbit and various waterfowl. Love to fish! Two docks available for fishing and kayaking. Just cast a line for crappie, bass and catfish and cook fresh at your campsite. Socialize with your friends and family in the evenings around campfires while roasting marshmallows and toasting your favorite beverages. Music allowed at sites and around property, however we ask guests to be respectful of other campers and limit noise after 10:00 p.m.

Primitive camping, aka Boondocking requires a high level of self-sufficiency to ensure you have an enjoyable experience. Plan on no water, electric, cable, or Wifi hookups out in the wilderness. What if you forget something? Don't worry, it's about a mile to the nearest little country grocery store and restaurant called "Grand Pops". They serve up some great hamburgers and other home-style meals. Most people have "Hot Spots" on their phones these days. Don't let all the "whats and ifs" deter you. With a little bit of planning, a healthy dose of the adventurous spirit, your primitive camping will make you crave more. Here's some items to think about:

Water, toiletries, privacy tents, fire starters, cooking utensils, pots and pans, stove, fuel, utensils, first-aid kit, sunscreen, bug spray, sleeping bag, pillow, backpack, chairs, ice chest, trash bags. We ask that you please haul off your own trash.

EXPLORE THE SURROUNDING NATURE, build campfires, watch wildlife and enjoy a rejuvenating hike amidst the picturesque landscape.

Relax at Camp Joy! Peaceful tranquility and serenity will lift all the hustle and bustle weights of life off your shoulders! It's time to relax and surround yourself with the sounds and smell of nature. Enjoy a relaxing day of fishing or kayaking on the calm waters, surrounded by the peaceful ambiance of Camp Joy.

Enjoy the great outdoors! Camp Joy offers guests two docks available to use for fishing, lounging, getting in and out of kayaks on the property. The one shown was built as handicap accessible. This small lake is one of three lakes in the area called "Cade Lakes". Great for catching crappie, bass and catfish. Kids enjoy watching the turtles push each other off the logs seen around the banks. If you love to fish, the greatest fishing lake in Texas is a few miles away near Somerville, TX called "Lake Somerville". It's a scenic drive to the Overlook Marina and Lake Somerville Dam. Several State Parks surround Lake Somerville, the closest from this location is "Birch Creek State Park" with beautiful hiking trails. Highly recommend the drive to check the Parks out. Also recommend visiting "Washington on the Brazos", the birthplace of Texas and is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed. It is also a State Park. The "Aggieland Wild Animal Safari" is outside of Bryan College Station and is a great place to take the kids to interact with all kinds of animals. Offers a drive-thru in which you can drive thru as many times as you want, as well as a petting zoo and gift shop. And, if you like shopping, there are lots of antique shops and wineries at Round Top, another scenic drive about 45 minutes away. And all the ice cream lovers must visit the home of "Blue Bell" in Brenham, TX which is only open to the public during the weekdays, not weekends. While in Brenham, kids love to skate at the historic "Silver Wings Ballroom", known as one of the best skating rinks in Texas! Check for local events happening all around such as Aggie Football Games, Snook ChiliFest, Market Days on the Square in Caldwell and much, much more!
