Smoky Bear Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Quiet time is strictly enforced at Smoky Bear Campground, a detail that shows up repeatedly in reviews and sets the tone for what kind of place this is. Situated close to the center of Gatlinburg, the campground runs from mid-March through mid-November, giving it a slightly longer window than many nearby options. It draws a mix of tent campers and RV rigs, though the tent section is small, with only four or five dedicated spots positioned toward the edge of the property, away from hookup sites.

Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer connections accommodate RVs up to 80 feet, though at least one reviewer with a 42-foot rig noted it felt like a tight fit. The bathhouse consistently draws positive comments for cleanliness, and the pool, hot tub, and club room add practical value when weather turns. Staff responsiveness comes up across multiple reviews, from late arrivals getting clear guidance to guests being pointed toward nearby wildlife sightings. Arrow Creek Campground and Adventure Bound Campground Gatlinburg sit within a mile to the west for campers comparing options in the corridor.

The campground fills on opening weekends, so reservations matter, especially in fall. As Krissy M. puts it, the location is "close to the heart of Gatlinburg and near loads of hiking trails with river access," which makes it a workable base for day trips into Great Smoky Mountains National Park or toward Dollywood. Pets are welcome. If the Smokies are on the itinerary and a full-hookup site with enforced quiet hours fits the plan, this campground is worth booking early.

Grrrreat spot!

We got in late but set up quick with no problem! The lady on the phone was super friendly and informative. Camping area was easy to detect. Also, it was super safe feeling! I’m big on that and I slept a full 8 hrs. It’s got all the amenities you’d need. I’d totally camp here again!

Family friendly good time

Cozy place to stay, Staff was friendly and the bath house looked to be newly renovated and very clean. Quiet time was strictly enforced. I met my sisters family who had a small pop up and we brought our tent and we’re able to share a spot to make a fun affordable vacation. Kiddos loved the pool and basketball court. Close to the heart of Gatlinburg and near loads of hiking trails with river access.

Nice park, nice staff

We chose this resort for the full hookups and access to a cabin for our non-camping friends who traveled with us. They liked the cabin as well. This campground stays open a bit longer into November than other campgrounds which tend to close Nov 1st. Our site was smaller and not as level but it was fine for our small trailer.

Extremely nice!

We will visit here again. The staff is friendly, attentive and informative The sites are spacious and well maintained. Every site has flowers planted in adorable planters making it very homey. While not a large campground there is plenty to do nearby. Highly recommend this campground

Amazing

This campground exceeded my expectations! There is a very small area for tents (4-5 spots) but they are on the edge of the campground far enough from the RVs to get some peace and quiet. The bathrooms and showers are clean and spacious. Pool and jacuzzi are well maintained. The staff is very very friendly and helpful. It rained the whole time I was there and they were very accommodating, offering the club room as a refuge should the rain get too hard in the night. This campground is very quiet and peaceful and in close proximity to Gatlinburg, great smoky mountains national park, and Dollywood. They sell wood. Just a very clean and well maintained site! Highly recommend!
