Campground with a Marian and Access to Lake Activities

This is a great place for access to Lake Marion. There is a fishing dock and a marina. There is also a separate boat ramp, and close by is a fish cleaning station. This is a good place if fishing and water sports are your goals. As far as other activities, there is a good size swimming pool and a horse shoe pit. The store has almost everything you need, especially for fishing. There is a swing set for youngsters, and large grassy areas to play in, which sets adjacent to the many cottages at this resort.

The thing I didn’t like about the campground is that it had very few trees. Of course, it has 30 and 50 amp hookups for RVs, but there is very little privacy. There is a sense of community, and the campground is quiet at night. I got the feeling that most of the campers were full-timers and that many of them spend their time on the lake. After all, this is primarily a resort for fisherman. When my wife and I were here, we just wanted to relax and take our kayaks out on the water. I really didn’t seize the opportunity to fish, although if I had been there longer, I definitely would have. Lake Marion is known to have state fishing records, especially with catfish.

Overall, this campground didn’t stand out as a destination just for camping, but it did if you have a motor boat and want to go on the lake to fish.
