About

State Park

Welcome to Frances Slocum State Park Campground! Nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania, this campground is a gem for those looking to escape into nature. The campground offers a mix of tent and RV sites, with electric hookups available. While there are no water hookups directly at the sites, potable water is accessible nearby.

One of the standout features here is the large, wooded campsites that provide a good amount of privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. The bathhouses are well-maintained, and there's a sanitary dump station for RVs. If you're into hiking, you'll love the trails that wind through the park, offering scenic views and a chance to spot local wildlife.

The park itself is a haven for outdoor activities. There's a beautiful lake perfect for kayaking and canoeing, and you can rent boats if you didn't bring your own. Fishing is also popular, so don't forget your gear. For families, there's a playground to keep the kids entertained and a pool where you can cool off on hot days. Just a heads-up, though: the pool has a small fee for campers, which some folks find a bit annoying.

Visitors have mentioned that the campground is generally clean and well-kept, with spacious sites that are easy to back into if you're driving an RV. The atmosphere is quiet and serene, especially at night, making it a great spot for stargazing or simply unwinding by the campfire.

Located near the town of Wyoming, PA, Frances Slocum State Park Campground is a convenient stop if you're traveling through the area or looking for a weekend getaway. Whether you're here for a night or a week, you'll find plenty to enjoy and explore.

Nice park, but...

This is our second stay here at this campground. The first was a quick overnight in April. The park was 99% empty and the tree frogs were amazing! Our stay this time in Mid-July is completely opposite. The park of course is packed! No issue there as it’s the middle of summer. However, a lot of the sites are small and a bit too close to your neighbor for comfort. I would not recommend site 19E! There’s a site behind it the wraps around. Essentially, a site within a site! Not fun to wake up to a phone conversation on speaker and crying babies right outside your window at 5:45 in the morning. Every morning. Not to mention the kid LEARNING to play a song on his yyguitar! All in all, beautiful grounds of wildlife. Beware of the Park Rangers who enjoy writing tickets, though.

Just an okay overnight stay on the way to Maine.

Spent one night on our way to Maine. Due to heavy traffic, arrived near dusk, no real clear directions or check-in process. Also did not realize sites have no water and you have to fill with potable water. Luckily we had a very nice neighbor looking out for us and provided us with great directions and advice. Compared to other state parks, PA needs some improvements. Rotting picnic tables and overgrown, muddy sites.

Another nice PA state park

Large, wooded sites, good bathhouse, nice trails close by. A little highway noise, but dark and quiet at night. Very peaceful place.

Good stay, great site!

The goods: We had site 44 in the Stony Point loop and it was by far the largest campsite on the property. We had a thick covered wooded area to our right and a huge grassy area to the left. Was also an easy back in site as there’s an adjacent road (to parking and the amphitheater) right in front of it. All sites only have electric and only certain allow pets. Dump station had easy access and bathrooms, weren’t great but wasn’t the worst I’ve seen either.

The not so good: mosquitoes and ticks can ruin a good trip, come prepared! Others in the campground were not honoring the quiet hours rules or the no alcohol rules. Some guy walked right in front of our site and threw up in a wooded area close by. Around the lake people leave their fishing bait and tackle on the ground so please be careful with your pups! Also, DO NOT take your pups to the water. There is a weird bacteria or algae currently growing in the lake, it’s completely visible. There are advisories around about it too.

Great simple family campground

(Tent camper) Very clean campground. Level spacious sites for tents and electric/sewer water hook-ups for RV/campers.. Playground on the lower loop. Hiking trails throughout. Great fishing, boating...kayak and canoe rentals. Park pool or swimming at a daily discounted rate for campers. Pool concession carries ice and other items. Let’s of nearby homes offer firewood typically $4 a night bundle. They have walk-in primitive tent sites as well as electric sites for tents. Assigned dog sites. Love going here!

Only gave 4 stars because I believe campers ought to be able to swim for free as most pool business comes from the surrounding community. That’s always been a sore spot with me. I’ve been coming here for 25 years.

Nice lake, cramped camping

The park is nice and very clean. There is also plenty to do with a pool, hiking trails, fishing, and a nice lake with boat rental. The camping sites were really packed in together tightly, though.

👍🏽

Cute little park. Nice lake for kayaking but not for swimming although there is a big pool. Nice trails for hiking.

Beautiful and Clean

Camped here for the first time and was very impressed. The campground and bathrooms were very clean. Lots of hiking trails - although they need better markings.

A nice lake where you can rent boats or tie up your own right on the lake near the campground. Just the right size lake for kayaking. Would definitely go here again.
