Upper Buck Creek is located near Silver Lake in the Fremont-Winema National Forest. The terrain consists of forested areas with a mix of trees and open spaces. Temperatures can range from lows in the 30s Fahrenheit in winter to highs in the 80s during summer. Nearby attractions include the Fort Rock State Natural Area and the Summer Lake Hot Springs, offering opportunities for exploration and relaxation.

Upper Buck Creek is your destination for rustic seclusion in a high mountain setting. Located 35 minutes southwest of Silver Lake, Oregon, ponderosa, lodgepole pine trees, aspen, and willows co-exist with open meadows and marsh land. This quiet forest camp is a great place to relax, fish, walk along the creek, and enjoy nature. Upper Buck Creek features five campsites with picnic tables, and fire rings, and two vault toilets. Remember to park your vehicle at least 200 feet from the creek. There are no garbage receptacles, so remember to “pack it in, pack it out.” There no potable water. Visitors need to pack plenty of water.

Directions

Upper Buck Creek Campground is located 27 minutes southwest of Silver Lake, Oregon. From Silver Lake, take Oregon Highway 31 west for approximately 1.5 miles then turn left onto County Highway 4-10 (also known as Bear Flat Road). County Highway 4-10 will become Forest Service (FS) Road 2804. Upper Buck Creek Campground is adjacent to FS Road 2804.  Upper Buck Creek Campground vicinity map.

Mosquitoes

This campground was tough to find, I drove by it several times, keep your eyes open.  The campground is free which was nice, but the mosquitoes were terrible.
