Managed by the Bureau of Land Management within the Lakeview District, Bunyard Crossing Forest Camp sits in forested terrain south of Silver Lake and operates on a paid basis from May through November. Three sites are available, each with a firepit and picnic table. No cell coverage. Forest Service Road 413 reaches the camp but develops significant potholes that fill with water after rain, making it potentially impassable even in a 4WD vehicle, so arrival during dry conditions is strongly advised.

Directions

From Silver Lake Ranger District office, go south on County Road 4-12 for 6 miles. At the 6 mile point, the road turns into Forest Road 28. Stay on Road 28 for about 1 mile to Road 2917, turn right and go west for 1 mile. Just before the bridge crossing, turn right onto Road 413. The campsites are back in the canyon to the north.

A primitive forest camp with only basic amenities like firepits and limited picnic tables. Road access becomes problematic during rain with deep ruts and potholes. Complete isolation with no services or cell coverage.

End of the Road - Middle of No Where

Accessible by almost any vehicle. Can be stuck there if it rains, and FS Rd 413 has huge potholes that fill with water and become almost impassable, even with a 4WD. Firepits and a picnic table at one of the 3 sites. No services of any kind. No cell coverage. Not recommended for winter travel.

About as Rustic as it Gets

Been camping here for a week at a time for 20 years, during the summers. Fire about 10+ years ago took out the outhouse. If it rains, you most likely will be there till the road into the campsite dries out. Deep ruts in the road now, so regular cars aren't recommended.

Two campsites, but Forest Service says 3. One site has no shade in the middle of the day. Other site has a picnic table, but it may or may not be in usable shape.

No services of any kind - cell, WiFi, RV hookups, etc. You can be there for several days and not see anyone.

Very Primitive

Very primitive. Don’t go here during a rainy period. You might not get out. It says there are 3 campsites, but there are only 2. No services, no toilets, no cell reception, etc.
