A stretch of river with a sandy beach and rocks suited for jumping draws campers to Store Gulch Campground, a US Forest Service site set within Siskiyou National Forest outside Selma, Oregon. The road in is unpaved and winding in sections, and it is not suitable for big rigs. Four drive-in sites and two walk-in sites make up the layout, so space fills quickly, particularly on summer weekends.
Crowd patterns here are worth planning around. Reviews consistently flag summer weekends as heavily used, with day visitors occupying the river beach alongside campers. Weekday visits give a noticeably different experience. The swimming hole draws a younger crowd, and at least one reviewer noted a safety concern during a mid-July visit that prompted them to leave early. Alcohol is prohibited and enforceable by law, though enforcement is inconsistent according to some accounts.
No potable water is available on site. There is no trash service either, so campers need to pack everything out. One vault toilet is on site, in fair condition. Campfires are permitted outside of wildfire season restrictions, and the $10 fee makes this one of the lower-cost options among camping near Siskiyou National Forest. Nearby alternatives include River Bench Campground and Siskiyou National Forest Sixmile Campground, both along the same corridor. As Greg B. notes, it is an "easy road to get to this stretch of river, and lots of campgrounds along." Store Gulch works best for campers who arrive early, travel without large rigs, and can pack out all their gear.
