This rustic camp offers a few sites and is also a trailhead which accesses the Vinegar Hill-Indian Rock Scenic Area. From the trailhead visitors can access other trails such as the Princess trail #251, Sunrise Butte Trail #255 and Blackeye Trail #243. Allowing for multiple opportunities for hiking.

From John Day drive east on US Highway 26 for approximately 15 miles to Austin Junction. Drive north on US Highway 7 for one mile to County Road 20. Drive west on County Road 20 for approximately 14 miles to Forest Service Road 45. Drive north on Forest Service Road 45 approximately 8 miles to Forest Service Road 4500-537. Drive east on Forest Service Road 4500-537 toward Indian Rock Lookout. This road will disect Head O'Boulder Forest Camp.
