Forest Creek near Maupin, OR, is surrounded by forested terrain with a mix of trees and open spaces. Temperatures range from 30°F in winter to 85°F in summer. Visitors can explore the nearby Deschutes River for fishing and rafting or visit the White River Falls State Park for scenic views.

Description

Located on Forest Creek. Just follow Forest Road 4885 south about 2.5 miles to the White River. To the east you can ride up to Boulder Point and get a look around; to the west you reach the White River. The campground itself is located on the historical Barlow Road (3530). Although many pioneers passed by this site, few actually camped here. They did water their stock and themselves in the creek and possibly stopped here briefly on the last leg of their long journey to the fertile valleys west of the Cascades.

Remote and secluded on White River (ice cold!) on Mount Hood

Not easy to find. Found driving around. Very inexpensive summer camp location. Very private, just 6 sites with vault toilets. Hike the Barlow Trail (part of the Oregon Trail). Located on Forest Creek. Just follow Forest Road 4885 south about 2.5 miles to the White River. To the east you can ride up to Boulder Point and get a look around; to the west you reach the White River. The campground itself is located on the historical Barlow Road (3530).

I do not recommend swimming in the river as it is extremely cold. plenty of shade and easy to back a trailer into the sites.

Although many pioneers passed by this site, few actually camped here. They did water their stock and themselves in the creek and possibly stopped here briefly on the last leg of their long journey to the fertile valleys west of the Cascades.
