Horse camping in open terrain near a lake gives Currier Springs Horse Camp a distinctive footprint within Fremont National Forest. Managed by the US Forest Service, this established campground in Paisley, Oregon is designed for equestrian use. Access is rough, so trailers and rigs should be prepared for uneven roads before arrival. Nearby options include Summer Lake Overlook Dispersed — Fremont NF for campers in the area without horses. Plan for self-sufficiency; services are limited this far into the forest.
Description
Located one hour west of Paisley, Oregon, Currier Springs horse camp lies in an open meadow. Currier Springs features four camping sites with campfire rings, and picnic tables. It also boasts a newer corral with four stalls, built by the Back Country Horsemen, that can accommodate four to eight horses. You’ll view spectacular mountain scenery as you ride along the top of a 2,000 feet high fault block rim, known as Winter Rim or Winter Ridge.
