Summer Lake Overlook Dispersed — Fremont NF

The Fremont National Forest service road above the Summer Lake plateau in south-central Oregon offers sweeping views over the lake basin from a partially tree-sheltered rim at this dispersed camping area. Multiple flat or near-flat pullouts are available along this stretch of road, most with fire rings and room for several vehicles — leveling rocks on-site help with the uneven terrain. The forest road is generally in good shape and manageable for high-clearance two-wheel-drive vehicles in dry conditions; dog owners should note heavy foxtail presence throughout the area.
