FSR 4610 Dispersed

Stretching through Ponderosa forest west of Bend, FSR 4610 Dispersed runs a considerable length with numerous pull-off sites along the road. It fills fast on weekends. Campers who arrive Thursday morning have reported securing spots before the area reached capacity by evening, so early arrival matters here. Site accessibility varies depending on vehicle size and clearance. Bikers frequent the area regularly, given the bike trails nearby. Those exploring camping areas near Bend will find this corridor well-represented. For a different dispersed option in the same stretch of forest, Deschutes NF Dispersed off NF-4610 sits less than a mile to the southeast.

Close by dispersed camping

Easy to find, very close to the edge of Bend. Popular with mountain bikers. I had no trouble finding a spot and was able to run a few errands before settling in - very dry and dusty but also really pretty. A convenient spot in central Oregon

Close to town

I read a few mixed reviews from others saying they experienced shady traffic, trash, and a lot of long term campers which made us skeptical to try here. But, honestly, it’s a really convenient area that’s clean, and if anyone here is a long-term camper, they don’t make it obvious. Lots of campsites along the road. Some are more accessible than others for large or low clearance vehicles. I highly suggest arriving early in the morning to secure a spot. It’s a very popular area. We secured our spot Thursday morning around 9 am and by the evening after we returned from town, it was essentially full. We drove pretty far down the road and there’s a lot of campers here. Bike trails in this area as well so there’s a lot of bikers. But, overall very peaceful.
