Dispersed near Baboon Creek Quarry

Whitman National Forest manages this free dispersed area along NF-6510 outside Sumpter, where several pull-offs and spurs provide basic boondocking among fir and pine. A stone fire ring marks the mapped location, and additional spots sit both before and after it along the road. Sites are not level, so campers with larger rigs should expect some effort getting set up. Road conditions vary by season and storm activity, and at least one reviewer reached the site in an extended Transit van, though high-clearance vehicles are the safer bet year-round.
