Description
This wide roadside pullout sits within Deschutes National Forest at roughly 5,400 feet, tucked into the high-Cascade volcanic landscape west of Bend near Sparks Lake. A fire ring anchors the far end of the pullout, and short trails branch out to a rocky lava hill and toward the creek corridor below — the surrounding terrain makes it a convenient base for exploring the area on foot. The access road off NF 401 is bumpy but manageable for vans, RVs, and larger rigs without requiring high clearance; the pullout accommodates a couple of vehicles before filling up.
