Tents only!

Dunefield has lots of interesting plants. The main attraction is exploring them by dune buggy or 4 wheeler, which you can rent on-site.

Yay: simple campground with hot showers. Note that there are two areas to camp, one for RVs and one for tents, separated. This is the one for tents!

Nay: Since there are so many motorized vehicles on the dunes, walking around them is not very fun (you can rent on site) and they may wake you up early in the morning. When we went about 5 years ago you had to provide your own helmets (bike helmets are ok). Campground is small and the paved (RV) spaces are extremely close together. Make reservations in summer.

Surprise: The dunes aren’t very tall compared to ones we’ve been to elsewhere, but riding through them and making little jumps is a lot of fun. Nice stargazing.

Off-Road sand dunes

Surprise: Oklahoma has sand dunes. You can rent a buggy, go hiking along them, or go fishing in a small stocked pond. The campground has showers, electric at some sites, flush toilets, and shade pavilions. Sites are close together. It is close to the dunes so if you plan to sleep in you will likely be woken up by sunrise dune buggies. Extensive trail system for hiking and buggies. If you’re used to dunes in Oregon etc. you may be disappointed by the size of this park, but it’s a great change of pace in OK.

There are two camping areas that have the same facilities but slightly different locations. This one is near the small fishing pond ("lake"). It has both RV and tents campsites.
