The Great Outdoors Family Campground

The Great Outdoors Family Campground operates from mid-April through mid-October near the Pennsylvania-Ohio border. This established campground features full hookup sites arranged in a layout that one reviewer described as resembling a trailer park more than a traditional campground. Sites sit on dirt roads that can generate dust, and shade varies significantly by location.

The campground includes a small in-ground pool as its primary amenity. Fire rings are provided, though cooking grates may need to be borrowed from staff. Cell service can be unreliable, particularly for Verizon users, while WiFi functions intermittently. Bug activity appears heavy during summer months. For campers seeking different amenities or settings, Crystal Springs Campground sits less than two miles east.

Nope! We Won’t Go Back

Our friends recommended this campground, which was nearly 3 hours away from us and just a couple of miles from the PA/Ohio border. The staff was very friendly and we had full hookups, but it was more of a trailer park than a campground. Our site, #38B had NO shade and we were there during the weekend of mid-August. My wife made the mistake of sitting outside with flip flops and had massive bug bites all over her feet and legs. There was no fishing at the campground and all of the roads were dirt, so lots of dust. Our fire ring had no cookout grate, but the host let us borrow one (we have since purchased one of our own since then). The WiFi worked, sometimes and Verizon cell coverage was awful. At $35/night, with no amenities, except a small in ground pool, we won’t be back.
