Hidden Lakes Family Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing and paddling draw campers to Hidden Lakes Family Campground in Montville, Ohio, where two lakes anchor most of the activity on site. The larger lake is big enough for kayaking and paddleboarding, and a separate swimming area has a sand beach. A pool is also available, though reviewers describe it as functional rather than exceptional.

Sites here run large, particularly on the back side of the campground near the water. Lakeside spots are among the most spacious, and most sites sit fairly level. The pull-through sites toward the front tend to be smaller. The internal roads are unpaved dirt, which becomes an issue after rain when mud makes departure difficult, so campers with heavier rigs should watch the forecast. Electric and water hookups are available, and a dump station provides easy access. There are no sewer hookups. One main bathhouse serves the campground, with portable toilets in the back sections. Reviewers consistently note that noise levels stay low even over busy holiday weekends.

A few practical notes worth knowing: outside firewood is not permitted, and the campground sells bundles on site. Pets are welcome, and reservations are available. Seasonal campers with golf carts share the grounds, though reviewers note the mix does not feel intrusive. Country Lakes Family Campground and The Farm at Grand River are among the nearby alternatives for those comparing campsites near Huntsburg. As Greg K. notes, "even with the holiday weekend, the campground was very quiet." The campground works well for RV campers and families who want water access and room to spread out without a crowded atmosphere.

Quiet and Peaceful with Large Sites

This campground was exactly what I was looking for, a quiet campground with a large campsite. I have very few complaints. We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed our time there. Even with the holiday weekend, the campground was very quiet. Our site was lakeside and was probably the largest campsite I ever stayed in. Some areas where not as big, especially the pull through sites toward the front, but most of the sites on the back side were large. Most sites looked pretty level. Ours sloped up toward the road, but our trailer was not log enough for it to be an issue. The road are mostly dirt and dusty, but didn't bother me. I Site was large enough that there wasn't dust blowing and the traffic was pretty minimal. t was worse when it rained and everything was muddy when we were trying to leave. There are some seasonal campers with golf carts, but It wasn't overwhelming and we didn't feel like we were invading a private neighborhood. The larger lake was bigger than I anticipated and was big enough to paddleboard/kayak on. The pool as fine, nothing special, but good enough for a quick dip. We didn't' use the swimming lake, but it had a sand beach. The location is about 30 minutes from Geneva on the Lake. There are several wineries about 15-20 min away that we visited. My biggest complaint I had was the firewood rule. As another reviewer mentioned, they don't allow outside firewood and your have to pay$12 a bundle for theirs. This adds some cost to the stay, thought I'm not sure how much they enforce it. We saw some rather large fires going around the campground and I doubt they were burning that much wood at$12 a bundle. The other rules were reasonable and I think making people acknowledge them at booking and checking in reinforces it. It is nice to not have to hear your neighbor 3 sites away playing music at 10:00 at night. No sewer hookups that I saw, but the bathroom was clean. Only one main bathhouse with some port-johns in the back areas. Overall, we were happy and would consider going back.

Quiet spacious clean family campground

We stayed here mid June on their premium lot, super large and right on fishing lake. We brought our canoe and enjoyed fishing and just cruising around. Lots are large and campers purposefully spaced out I presume . Quiet and peaceful stay. Owners were helpful with limbs close to camper as we had to pull in a back in site due to electric and water being on opposite side. Little work here and there with site organizing and arranging and when the pool opens it ll be top notch. Kids enjoyed the western quest searching for posts w symbols arranged around campground. We live 5 min away and wanted to check this place out. I thought I’d have hard time getting into camp mode being close to house but it’s the opposite of cramp - packed campgrounds and we really enjoyed ourselves. We ll Definitely be back and would recommend to all outdoor enthusiasts
