Army Corps of Engineers manages Little Beaver Bay Campground within the Sakakawea Recreation Area, and the site actually comprises three distinct camping areas: primitive sites near the water, a mid-level loop with covered tables and electric hookups, and a larger developed area at the top of the hill with a dump station. No pets are allowed. The layout feels compressed when sites fill up, but the campground draws anglers and day visitors to Lake Sakakawea, where low water levels can expose a wide beach not normally accessible. Tree cover is sparse, which matters in summer heat. Anglers exploring campsites near Sakakawea Recreation Area will find White Earth Bay Recreation Area roughly six miles east as an alternative.
