Rocky Hock Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Rocky Hock Campground sits just north of Edenton, North Carolina, on private land with direct water access to a creek that connects to the Chowan River. Sites are large, mostly pull-through, and level, with full hookups available for RVs up to 70 feet. The campground operates year-round, so conditions vary considerably by season, and at least one winter visitor found the grounds quiet and uncrowded with plenty of room to spread out.

Water access is a defining feature here. A boat ramp gives paddlers and small boaters a launch point onto the surrounding waterways, and a fishing pond sits on the property as well. Great blue herons have been spotted regularly around the man-made pond. Firewood is available on-site. Amenities include two bathhouse facilities with showers, a game room, laundry, a screened gazebo, and WiFi, though some reviewers have noted that certain facilities show wear and that the game room may be closed during the off-season.

"Large fishing pond, firewood available, clean shower house, game room and tidy clean sites," notes Kathleen in a recent review. Pets are welcome, and the grounds include space to walk dogs. Long-term work campers should know that site placement near the pond is not guaranteed and is subject to availability restrictions. The historic town of Edenton, with its waterfront and dining options, is a short drive away and worth building into a visit. Campers wanting a different setup in the region can also look at Cashie River Campground and Treehouse Village to the southwest.

It’s just OK.

It did say that the laundry area was renovated and I was highly disappointed to see that it does not show any signs of remodeling. The shower house is tolerable but also I will NOT be using the area. They are not strict enough about kids and the crap they leave everywhere. There is a house near the property where they keep dogs out in a kennel all day in the summer heat who bark (understandably) all day. That’s not their fault. They’re strict about where you stay long term and won’t let you near the pond which is also underwhelming. The front desk girl is very sweet and welcoming. Would have liked to have the same opportunity to be by the water as everyone else. We travel for work- all stays are long term.

Great weekend getaway spot!

Wanted to try out a new tent in the snow, was the only camper, and had a huge plot to myself. All RVers were polite and kept to themselves and were quiet. Very clean bathrooms (2) with showers in each. Gaming room available, although it seemed 'closed' for the off-season. Staff is great and very accommodating! $5 wood bundles! Will definitely be staying here again! Can't wait to see this place alive and in action come summer time!

Convenient Location

We have family in Edenton and have stayed at Ricky Hock many times. It is just north of town and has large mostly pull through sites with full hookups.

Beautiful campground with many amenities

We loved staying here for the weekend! We were the only ones in the tent area underneath beautiful trees. We kayaked in their creek that goes out directly to the Chowan River. Large fishing pond, firewood available, clean shower house, game room and tidy clean sites. Will return!

Understated Gem

I admit to being uncertain when I made reservations here.  I had not seen any pictures of it or a camp map. What a great surprise. Phyllis was very attentive and accomodating. The grounds are immaculate, sites are level and very well designed for optimal privacy. This property has many perks: dog friendly and has space to exercise your furbabies, boat ramp to explore the surrounding waterways, golfing, screened gazebo, laundry, David's Red Barn which did not have entertainment during our stay. The man made pond adds beauty and we sighted great blue heron daily. Perfect location to go and explore Edenton NC. Please check out this beautiful, interesting, and historical town. Eat at "Nothing Fancy". We highly recommend this Campground and will stay again if in the area.

Good

It's not bad, the sites are spacious and level. The staff have been nice and we have had no issues. There is a cool barn and they have live music. They also have a lake, allow fishing and small boats, volleyball court, and some kind of golf course (might be frisbee). We stopped in to see some friends in the area and would return.
