Nantahala National Forest's Bartram Trail Backcountry sits along a stream in a secluded section of the forest, accessible only by a serious hike from any direction. This is a hike-in only site. Campers who do reach it find a free site with drinking water, space for a campfire, and trees suitable for hanging food overnight. Pets are allowed. The site works best as a stop for those through-hiking the Bartram Trail rather than a standalone destination. For dog-friendly camping near Nantahala National Forest, the surrounding forest has additional options worth considering. Nearby, Cheoah Bald Campground provides another backcountry option along the trail corridor.
