Located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, this secluded, 39-acre resort on Stecoah Creek is surrounded by the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. The area has some of the best motorcycle riding in the world.
Iron Horse is within minutes of the famous Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, the scenic Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner 28, Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee , Fontana Dam, and the Nantahala River Gorge. Whether you are on a cruiser, sport bike or dual sport, Iron horse is where riders stay and play.

Owners John and Charlene Powell decided that motorcycle riders needed a resort destination of their own. Wanting to bridge the free spirit of the old west with the free spirit of the modern motorcyclists, we designed the Iron Horse with a western flair. Reservations not required but helpful to IH staff. $20.00 PER TENT-1 person per night / $5.00 each additional person per tent, per night. (Does not include towels, towels are available for $1.50 each). Tent Sites with 110 vlt/ 15amp hookup: We charge by the tent or trailer. Please make reservation, deposit required. Electric hook ups. $25.00 PER TENT OR TRAILER, 1 person per night each additional person $5.00 per night. RV & Trailer Sites with 30/50amp hookup: Please make reservation, deposit required. 4 qty power/water sites. 1 qty full hookup with pull through access. GuideGreat home base for your Smoky Mountain Moto Trip
I tent camped here on a solo trip for two nights in the Fall. Met plenty of great folks and got lots of awesome recommendations about things to do in the area from others staying here.
The staff are super friendly, the bathhouse is clean (well, the women’s, can’t speak for the men’s) and there’s a laundry room on site if you need it.
Inside the lodge there’s WiFi, plenty of places to charge a phone or GoPro if needed, a game room with pool tables and TVs, and giant maps with ride routes of the area. They also offer breakfast and dinner for limited hours.
At night they light up a fire and everyone hangs out.
As someone who typically chooses a USFS or NPS campground, I would highly recommend staying here if you’re on a motorcycle.

Always heard great things about this place & I was not disappointed. The property is beautiful with a stream, campsites, cabins & lodge. Perfect location for many rides. Good food, fire pit, bathroom/showers, etc. Find this place & stay!
