      Oquaga Creek State Park Campground

Very Nice and would go again; but not the Adirondacks.

Really liked it. Love the layout, with camp sites having mowed paths to the restrooms and showers in the middle of each loop. Nicest showers and rest rooms we have seen so far. Each site has brush between them so you can not see your neighbors. Pretty, quiet, relaxing. The groomed hiking trails are the best and Arctic Lake is beautiful. Staff were so nice, and loved doing the scavenger hunt!

Yogi Bears Jellystone Park at Cooperstown

Great for tourists , kids, golf carts and parties

The bathrooms were nice and clean and the pool looked nice. Mostly seasonal campers and Cooperstown tourists. Very crowded and packed into spots tight. The golf carts are out of control…flying by, loud music and flashing lights until midnight. Even the amount of traffic coming in and out of the campground went on until midnight with head lights shining in camper windows. I will take being woken to loons on the lake any day, this was loud and crowded.

      Lake Chalet Motel and Campground

      Clean, Quiet & Beautiful!!

This campground is beautiful. The lake is good sized and clean. The property has beautiful fields and a creek that runs along the back. This is not a party campground and people are not packed in on top of each other. The little store is cute & affordable and the owners are on site 24/7.

The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone

      Excellent park

Space was adequate with both shade and some sun, trash service and shuttle service was a plus . Pool and walking paths were well kept. Dog waste stations were available but the park didn't have a dog park. Bummer for fino.

      Spruce Creek Campground

      Spruce Creek

This place is ab awesome getaway. It was so peaceful and quiet, not like some of the other campgrounds. The new owners are trying to make it all natural nature. They have a small trail around the campground, where you can see the creek and narure. While we were there, I saw 2 beautiful pheasants and rabbits. It was just what we needed, a nice quiet getaway and we will be back

      Tall Pines Campground & Canoeing

      Sweetest Campground Around

This was the sweetest campground around!! They deliver fire wood right to your site along with anything else you need. Free delivery of amazing pizza on Friday nights(delivered by a 1969 pink beetle!!). There is a giant river, a dog park and the camp ground is close to town, but far enough away so that you still feel like your camping! Amazing bathroom/shower facilities and a clean swimming pool:)

Fort Plain Lock 15 on Empire Trail

      Fun unique spot

Lock 15 is big area with varied places to park. There is a port a potty and potable water and All free. Shaded areas and picnic tables. It is located on the Mohawk River. It is a busy train location across the river. A boat did not enter the lock during our visit but it is an active lock on the Erie Canal. There is ample parking for a dozen or more campervans. It’s only 25 miles from Copperstown, NY. Felt very safe here.

      Mongaup Pond

      Great camp ground

Stayed for 2 nights in June and it was delightful. Facilities were very clean, had flush toilets and showers, and the trails around the pond were great for my dog. Sites were well maintained, but a little close together for my preference. We stayed at site 146. Would definitely come back and hope to get a site along the pond next time!

      Gilbert Lake State Park Campground

Staff is great as well as the campgrounds

Gilbert Lake State Park is located about 11 miles north of Oneonta, New York. I have camped here for a number of summers at their Hilltop Section, never dissapointed. There are a few trails that traverse the park for a few miles that are always green and shady. The lake offers swimming and kayaking. There is a concession stand and even a small museum that chronicles the efforts of the national CCC program under Roosevelt that constructed the park in the 1930's. After a long day of hiking, the campgrounds hot showers offer a great reprieve.

    Guide to Mount Vision

Cabin camping options near Mount Vision, New York provide comfortable accommodations with varying levels of amenities and access to outdoor recreation. Sites range from rustic to modern cabins, typically situated within established campgrounds that also accommodate tent and RV camping. Most cabins in the region require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when tourism peaks in nearby Cooperstown.

    What to do

Lake activities at Gilbert Lake State Park: The park features multiple lakes for swimming, fishing, and paddling. "The lake is pristine and wonderful to swim in. Nice beach. Also a place for showers and a bathroom and small place for food and extras things you might need for camping," shares a visitor to Glimmerglass State Park Campground.

Baseball-themed recreation: Many campgrounds cater to families visiting Cooperstown's baseball attractions. At Cooperstown Beaver Valley Campground, "There is a large baseball field that could be rented and used" and the campground was "originally a baseball camp," according to a camper. The campground maintains its "baseball draw for those families whose youngsters are playing at the Field of Dreams."

Hiking trails: Wooded paths offer opportunities for nature exploration throughout the region. A visitor to Gilbert Lake State Park notes, "There's miles of hiking trails including one around the lake" while another mentions "lots of nice hiking trails, though beware hiking during hunting season as hunting is allowed within the park borders."

    What campers like

Cabin comfort and amenities: Cabin accommodations range from basic to well-equipped. "Spacious cabin was clean and comfortable. Two bedrooms, one with bunk beds and another with a full. There were dressers in each room. Also in the main room with a fireplace, futon, and table with benches," describes a guest at Gilbert Lake State Park Campground.

Peaceful settings: Several smaller campgrounds offer quieter alternatives to larger facilities. "Quiet over in the 100 acre woods section so nice for a couples camping trip!" reports a camper at Hartwick Highlands Campground.

Family-friendly environments: Many camping sites near Mount Vision, New York provide amenities specifically for families. "Great campground very well kept and closest to Dreams Park. Security gate to enter and exit, pool, store, arcade, wide open where the RV's are," notes a visitor to Hartwick Highlands Campground. Another camper at Crazy Acres Campground at Beaver Spring Lake shares, "We had fun, plenty of activities, a big lake to fish in and a pool to relax by. Nighttime family fun as well."

    What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Most camping facilities operate from May through October. A camper at Gilbert Lake State Park notes, "Fall is the time to go!" while another visitor adds, "This park is quiet and peaceful in fall, when we visited, but looks to be heavily used in summer due to many amenities."

Reservation requirements: Booking well in advance is essential, especially for cabins. "The only down fall is they fill up fast," comments a camper about Gilbert Lake State Park, while another notes about Deer Haven Campground and Cabins, "It was hard to pre book a site though. You can't do it online, you have to email, and it can take a while to hear back from anyone confirming a reservation."

Environmental conditions: Water quality varies by location and season. A visitor to Gilbert Lake State Park reports, "A major problem at this park is the recent development of a toxic algae problem in the lake. Because of algae blooms during warm weather, swimming and fishing in Gilbert Lake are now prohibited."

    Tips for camping with families

Proximity to Cooperstown: Consider distance to baseball attractions when booking. "Close to Cooperstown and The Baseball Hall of Fame. Nearby shopping and many attractions," notes a camper at Susquehanna Trail Campground. Another visitor to Deer Haven Campground and Cabins shares, "We saw deer on our site a few mornings!"

    Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Full-service sites may be limited at some campgrounds. "The electric and water hookups were a bit far from where we had to set up, and I had to do some maneuvering to get hooked up," notes a camper at Cooperstown Family Campground.

Site conditions: Terrain varies significantly between campgrounds. "Our site was all grass, which was fine, but would be a problem if it was raining," shares an RVer at Cooperstown Family Campground. At Deer Haven Campground, a visitor notes, "Stayed during the week and was able to get a more secluded, wooded site. (Most of them are pretty open)."

Connectivity challenges: Internet and cell service can be unreliable. "The wifi and mobile data were atrocious, which sucked when we were trying to plan out our travels," reports a camper at Cooperstown Family Campground, while a visitor to Gilbert Lake State Park reports, "The only downsides are the roads are rough and there's little to no cell signal. That could be a plus for some though."
