No matter what kind of camping you’re into; seaside, mountainside, lakeside, even city side, New York has it all. There’s a countless number of places where you can pitch a tent, park a car, or rent a cabin. Camping in New York also means you’ve always got a ton of activities nearby, like swimming, hiking, fishing, canoeing, even mountain biking. 


Some of the best camping in New York can be found in the Finger Lakes. Here you’ll find places like the Hickory Hill Family Camping Resort that offers themed weekends, as well as spa services, mini golf, wagon rides, and swimming pools. One of the more popular Finger Lakes destinations is Watkins Glen State Park, which has 19 waterfalls within a two mile walk. The park also has an Olympic sized pool, hot showers, and restrooms.


Dreaming of city life? The Hudson Valley region offers many wonderful places to pitch your tent. Located near the Hudson River, the towns of Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Peekskill, West Point, White Plains, and Suffern (to name a few) all have great areas for camping in New York. And, they’re all accessible by train to and from the city.


If you’re into small maritime villages on the other side of the Hudson River and the East River, Long Island boasts some of the best camping in New York. On the island, surf-casting, fresh seafood, and sandy beaches are plentiful. If you make it all the way out to the end of the island, a visit to the Montauk Lighthouse, which was commissioned by George Washington, is a must see.


And, if mountains are your thing, head to the Catskills, the Adirondacks, or even Bear Mountain State Park where you’ll find forests, hidden streams, hiking trails, and mountains galore. Located on the fertile ground between two streams, the orchard has several varieties of pears, including, but not limited to, Olympic Giants, Hosui, Bartlett and 21st Century. In addition to selling Asian pears, Oh! Pear offers a look at a close to zero energy and negative carbon footprint. Welcome to Lakeside Campground in beautiful Windsor, New York!
Lakeside Campground is a perfect place for family camping in the Binghamton area. From tenting to Big Rig RV’s … we offer 20/30/50 amp service. We have large 60' pull thru sites for all size RV camping. Choose from 60' pull thru sites or wooded lakeside sites on our private lake for your RV, popup or tent. At Lakeside, you can enjoy fishing (no individual license needed as the campground carries the license), swimming in the lake’s designated swim area, boating with your personal, non-motorized vessel, or renting one of our kayaks, paddle boats, row boats, or canoe. We also have a new playground and game room for the kids and those young at heart, basketball court, as well as a recreation room with a television and pool table. Additionally, there is golfing available nearby.

We have secluded, wooded sites along a private lake from tenting to large RVs. We have beautiful, fully equipped cabins and trailers for rent. This is a great way to go camping with family and friends who don’t have tents or RV’s. There are a total of 13 rental accommodations, including cabins, RV rentals, yurts, and a platform tent. Lakeside also has a campground store, where customers can purchase basic grocery items, treats, drinks, adult beverages, apparel, and basic camping/RV items. The store also carries fishing worms, bagged ice, and firewood bundles. Personal firewood can only be brought into Lakeside if it comes from within a 50-mile radius, and outside firewood deliveries are prohibited. We offer larger firewood baskets for seasonal campers and those with extended stays.

You won’t forget your time in nature under the stars. Beautiful bell tent located near flowing creek that allows you to be at one with nature. Record any animals you see in our journal, use the binoculars on a search. Enjoy our stocked bench with all your camping needs. Sit around the firepit under the stars and enjoy a night away.

Nearby, you can visit the famous country zoo, Animal Adventure , where April the Giraffe became famous! Visit the many Pumpkin Farms, The Cider Mill, Apple Orchards, beautiful parks nearby for hiking & biking.





Oasis in the woods by the family tree

We just opened our cabin again for the summer of 2022 after a pause during covid and a few upgrades! Enjoy a unique experience camping off grid in a sweet little sleeping cabin on our 270 acre farm at the top of the hill with breathtaking views and amazing sunsets, interesting and fun birdwatching, and at night incredible star gazing ! Our cabin has a twin bed, a fold out futon, a small table. and a cot if needed. Outside there is a small deck with two adirondack chairs and a fire pit. There is a bathroom with a flush toilet and sink in our bakery a short hike away. We also offer a portable small toilet in a pop up privacy tent outside the back side of the cabin. You are welcome to stay put or take a short hike to visit our artisan bakery or rescue horses. Depending on the day of the week you may be able to see our bakery in production! You can step inside and join us or just observe! We might even send you off with a warm loaf of sourdough. We bake on Wednesday and Fridays! While you are visiting be sure to enjoy swimming or fishing in our spring fed pond, say hello to or rescue horses, hike or bike on a near by seasonal road or in the state forest, or just relax and enjoy the beauty of this sacred piece of earth!

If you are looking for more we are 5 miles from a local state reservoir, 10 miles from a small college town with a local brewery, live music in the park, a farmers market, a movie theatre, two performing art theaters and an art gallery.

Many local festivals and activities within driving distance during the summer months. An open farm day event, antique show, garlic , cheese, and apple festivals at certain times during the summer/fall months and much more!



Off Grid Sunset View Sleeping Cabin

A wonderful rustic, private, off-grid get-away, perfect for couples, families, and pups who enjoy camping (log cabin with wood furniture available, you may pitch your tent anywhere on the property, if you prefer - leave no trace). It is a quiet, rural, forest and field area. Once at the cabin there are only two to three houses within a half mile (through the woods), so you will have a private space all your own. Onsite: water pump, outhouse, wood stove, campfire ring, wood & propane grill. Exclusive access for nature hikes, streams, forest, pond, swimming, bird watching, star gazing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, etc. When you book, you are confirming your understanding of the following: there is no electricity, running water, or  bed/mattresses. You bring own air mattress, bedding, and gear you will need. All-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. To check dates available, calendar is available via airbnb or hipcamp. Note for winter guests: We do not plow the driveway in winter, you need to be ready to shovel an off-road parking spot, and transport gear to cabin(e.g. by sled, snowshoes) Here's a brief list of the basics to bring: Light source: Lantern propane or battery(there are flashlights on site, but the batteries may be low or gone). Air mattress or cot and whatever bedding you need. Paper products(cups, plates, utensils, toilet paper, etc.) Matches/fire starter(there is wood and newspaper on-site, and a propane grill for cooking that has a self-starter) Bug spray Cooler and ice Lawn chairs There are a few tables, several chairs and benches. There are 2 picnic tables(one outside and one inside). The benches can be moved outside if you'd like, just move them back inside before you leave. The propane grill should also be moved outside if you plan to use it. There is a hand axe in the cabin to shave kindling, and the wood is already split to be the length for the wood stove, as needed. Gas: 5 miles away. If you plan to grocery shop when you get to the area, the closest store is at East Hill Plaza in Ithaca, about 9 miles past where the cabin is(I can give you all that info if you like). There is lots to explore/see/do in the Ithaca area if you decide to come down off the hill one of the days. I'll have some brochures and things in the cabin, and can answer questions(aka where is the best ice cream, dinner, etc.).

Ludlow Creek Lean-To Campsite

While most people consider New York City to be the main attraction of the state, further upstate lies Chenango Valley State Park; a much calmer 1,137 acre natural wonder of New York. This park is known for its two kettle lakes, named Chenango and Lily. The lakes, which were created after the last Ice Age, formed when large chunks of ice that were left behind by a glacier ended up buried deep beneath the earth. Over time, that ice melted, forming the bogs and wetlands known today as Chenango and Lily. 

The park’s rich ecosystem attracts both migrant as well as predatory birds and other watchable wildlife. Subsequently, birdwatchers will delight finding and spotting the woodpeckers, nuthatches, warblers and thrushes found along woodland trails. You will also find herons, ducks, and kingfishers over on the lakeside. 

Those searching for something closer to the lakes will enjoy an abundance of excellent fishing opportunities. Fishermen can attempt to catch trout, bass, perch, and bullhead in Chenango Lake, as well as the various wetlands and marshes throughout. Lily Lake is not known for its fishing opportunities, but makes a the perfect place for a relaxing day at the beach. After you’ve soaked up some rays, enjoy a relaxing game of gold over at the 18-hole Chenango Valley State Park Golf Course. There’s never a shortage of activities, nor scenic beauty to take in during your stay here. And luckily, if you can’t fit it all into one day the park offers fantastic overnight accommodations as well. 

When camping here, take comfort knowing there’s plenty of room for everyone. In fact, campers can choose from among 184 campsites, or  24 warm and cozy cabins. The park offers shower buildings routinely placed throughout, as well as an amply-stocked convenience store with camper information inside. 

Fortunately, there is a variety of campsite sizes and amenities to choose from. However, if you’re planning on camping with an RV, consider reserving your site at least a few months in advance as space can fill up very quickly, especially during the summer.

There are forty camp sites at Cook Park. Tents, campers, and RV's are welcome. Sites have: 30 or 20 amp electrical hook-ups, potable water, garbage pick-up, a fire ring and picnic table.

Camping area has a bath house with hot showers, and a pavilion for campers use. A dumping station is also on premises.
