Frontier Town Campground, Equestrian and Day Use Area

New, very nice, with killer bugs

I was in site 43, it was long enough it could have fit two of the biggest RVs I have ever seen. My 75 foot starling cable did not even reach all the way back out to the road. I drove through the equestrian loop and found it very confusing. Lots of fences and shared pedestals. I stayed in the next loop, stagecoach. Everything looked spic and span like it had just opened last month. The young man at the check in station said there were very few people there except on the weekends. I only saw three or four other rVs and two of them had to camp right next to me. I saw the bugs, some of them clearly mosquitoes and I never saw one get away with biting me. But I ended up with two lower legs and two forearms that constantly itch like mad. I will never go back in June.

      Branbury State Park Campground

One of the more popular Vt State parks

We showed up on a busy Memorial Day weekend without reservations and the staff was kind enough to give us their last leanto. This place has access to some of the best hiking and paddling in the state.

      Moreau Lake State Park Campground

      Beautiful State Park

The road to our campsite was paved and in good shape but there were a few tight spots because of the trees that make it tricky for a big rig (Loop A seems to be the best for big-rigs). Great thing about this park is the hiking trails and lake so you don’t even have to leave to the park to enjoy great outdoor recreation. We found it enjoyable just to hang out in the park rather than trying to find things to do in the area. After hiking and paddling, we loved relaxing out at our campsite with a campfire.

Our campsite was spacious but required some maneuvering to avoid scraping trees with our RV. Campsites are spacious, shady, and had good separation between the neighboring sites which we enjoyed. Generators are allowed but not too many people were using them. The few other campers around that used them were mindful of quiet hours. Since it was still a little cool and our windows were closed and we never heard anyone’s generator. The park was not very crowded when we were there, but we can imagine it could get very busy and noisy in the busy summer season. The beach area seems to be a draw for people so the summer camping season is probably packed. The snack bar and gift/supplies shop at the sandy beach area were not open as we were there late in the season. There is also a nice playground for kids to enjoy.

This is dry camping so there are no hook-ups but there are restrooms and shower. Both were clean but the shower fluctuated between lukewarm, hot, and warm during my shower. Oh well, the shower felt good after our active days. There are two pavilions you can rent which are nice if big groups want to gather. Take note that only two pets are allowed per campsite, so plan accordingly if you are a pet owner.

Access is fairly easy, just off I-87, and there are plenty of signs directing you which way to go. Saratoga Springs and Lake George are nearby if you want to explore. We recommend visiting the National Horse Racing Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, if you have time. We would definitely stay here again.

      Great state park

I’ve stayed here a few times, and I’ve enjoyed each visit. The day use section has a wonderful beach with a swimming area and boat launch. Large trees provide shade on a grassy lawn, and grills are available. The concession stand is open during day use hours. The camp sites near the beach are in a large grassy field, and across the road, the campsites are wooded, and some have lean tos. The hiking trails nearby are very nice. There are bears in the area, so be aware and store all food properly. My family loves camping here.

      Mountainside Bliss

I’ve been here dozens of times, grew up going here every year and hiking rattlesnake. We make the trip from RI. Love to lake access, secluded camping, the hiking and remote area.

Planning on revisiting next summer, even in august the nights get to a good sleeping temperature a vast majority of the time.

I guess only negative thing to say is they changed the site numbers years back and we thought we booked the best site next to the River fro, past experiences but it was the one next to the bathrooms after they changed the site numbers without a warning.

      Paradise

Vacationing here from NJ. We decided to take our jeep and test out our rooftop tent at this site. We were so impressed at the beautiful scenery especially across the street from the beach. This was definitely our favorite campsite we’ve ever been to this far. The bathrooms were super nice, the campground itself was really clean too!

      Amazing!

We loved our weekend stay! My husband and I spent the weekend and loved it! We loved being deep in the woods! It was nice to have a little country store right across the street from the entrance of the campground. They had anything and everything you might need or had forgotten!

Very nice site secluded in the woods. The small lake my children went swimming in and you could kayak it. Very peaceful area, overall would recommend. My kind of camping!

      Great weekend getaway

My partner and I stayed at Moreau Lake State Park and were not disappointed. Tons of camping trails at varying distances, clean bathrooms with showers, well maintained sites, and a nice selection of activities. About a 20 minute drive from the southern tip of Lake George if you wanted to go off site. Will definitely be back!

      Huge campsites lakeside

I couldn't believe how large the lots were. While they arent super far from one another, they are large enough that they seem further than they are. Nice beautiful wooded area, we were able to put a tent and hang a hammock for sleeping. Price was very reasonable. The bathroom closest to us was having a running water issue, but it wasn't a big deal for us the lean too lots looked nice too if you're looking for coverage. It was a little close to the road, but it isnt a major road so I looked at it like a reasonable alarm clock. The lot was freshly raked and there really wasn't anything we didn't like about the site. Campfire pit had a grill!

      My Staple Campground

Moreau is a NY state campground. It is the closest campground to my home so we go often. The sites are large so there is a lot of privacy. The restrooms are all new and very clean. The staff is knowlegable and helpful. When going to SPAC or the Saratoga Race Course this is a great place to camp.

      Murphy Lake Leanto

Super secluded hard to access reward leanto with lake

This leanto is worth the effort it takes to get there. And you have to earn it on foot, bike or other. A two hour bike ride with a couple of breaks. The Murphy Bennett Trails is a technical challenge to hike, or bike in on. And be prepared to go over downfalls. The area is maintained, but windhappens in the old growth forest. Well marked with blue Trail Blazers, the trail snakes its way through the wilderness. Passing by two other bodies of water, Bennett and Middle Lakes, you pass through rocky, rooted terrain and pine tree barrens. Once at the large Leanto, you will find a fire pit and ample room for many tents if needed.plus a lake full of water, and a forest full of wood -if it hasn't rained. The trail ride out to Pumpkin Hollow doesn't take long, maybe an hour and a half, and the decent back to route 30 and reality takes 4 minutes 34 seconds.

      Beautiful!

Had an amazing time at Branbury. The site was so scenic with a little waterfall and stream nearby. The camp staff was so nice. They kept the the bathrooms and areas so clean.

There was plenty of space between sites so it didn’t feel like you were on top of each other. Bathrooms are flushing compost. However, there are only four showers for the whole campground.

Book early if you want to get a site with a lean-to!

Across the street from the campground was access to the lake with plenty of grassy areas to hang out. And beautiful sunsets at night! A five minute hike- though it is quite a rocky, boulder-y hike- from the sites leads to a small river and swimming hole.

Just make sure you put your food and trash away- there are black bears in the area!

      Awesome campground

I loved this campsite. Was very secluded, small lake but perfect for kayaking. There’s a small beach on the other side of lake(not recommended to swim at by workers) that you can kayak to and relax. Not overcrowded at all and in a great location. There are many trails in the back of the campground. Overall, I had a great experience here. Would def return for future camping endeavors!

      Best family campground

we have been going to this campground for almost 15 years and my husband went here a a kid with his family. We always get the same site, for 15 years. My daughter loves it here. We get our site close to the lake so we can walk down and swim and my husband fishes. The showers are so nice and private and clean. Love that we can rent boats too. Also, the little mom and pop store across the street is perfect for last minute needs and have the best homemade chocolate cream pie. Very close to great escape. Hiking available too.
