Description
High-desert scrubland just outside Santa Fe, this BLM multi-use recreation area sprawls across open terrain with panoramic views of the mountains ringing the city. A network of dirt roads and pullouts — generally passable by any vehicle — provides plenty of room to spread out, and the El Camino Real Historic Trail trailhead (with vault toilet) sits nearby for hikers and cyclists. The area sees regular use and some litter; packing out trash and arriving before dark to scout a level spot both make for a better stay.
