North Star Road runs north from Mimbres into Gila National Forest, and fire-ring campsites line its edges and spur roads the whole way up. The road is generally well maintained, and most vehicles can reach North Star Mesa without issue. No water, toilets, or other services are present. Cell service is available, and skies at night are notably clear. Hikers and equestrian users have trail access from the area. Free. Leave No Trace practices apply, as with all dispersed camping near Gila National Forest. Nearby, Rocky Canyon Campground sits 2.1 miles north for those who want a developed alternative.
