Carson National Forest encompasses Duran, a US Forest Service campground that operates from May through September near Vadito. The site accommodates RVs up to 16 feet and provides drinking water and restroom facilities. Creek access and lake proximity define the terrain here.
Located less than a mile from Carson National Forest La Junta Canyon, Duran sits within a cluster of forest service campgrounds that includes Upper La Junta to the northeast. The seasonal operation aligns with high country accessibility, closing before winter weather impacts forest roads.
Description
12 campsites on Duran Creek. Trailhead to La Cueva Lake Trail #8 and Duran/Policarpio Trail #13.
