Hiking trails in Great Basin National Park draw most visitors to this corner of Nevada, but Great Basin Flats gives hikers a free, drive-in staging point just five minutes from the Baker visitor center. The site is a large, open dirt flat a few hundred yards off the road, reached by a rutted two-track. No RVs. Crowd levels are low, though an active construction site with heavy equipment sits nearby.
