Off-road vehicles find their playground at Clayton Valley Sand Dunes, a Bureau of Land Management campground situated on open desert terrain east of the California border. The established camping area provides access to expansive sand dunes that draw ATV and dirt bike enthusiasts to this remote Nevada location.
Campers set up on BLM land managed by the Tonopah Field Office, with no designated sites or hookups available. The campground enforces a no-pets policy. Visitors typically arrive self-contained, as amenities remain minimal in this desert setting. Spring Rd. Dispersed offers an alternative roughly 19 miles to the east for those seeking different terrain.
Description
Clayton Valley Sand Dunes was designated as a SRMA in the Tonopah RMP and ROD. The site is closed to competitive recreational events. OHV use is limited to existing roads and trails. OHV use on un-vegetated sand areas is allowed.
