Hunters and those seeking complete isolation will find Big Rocks North functions more as a staging area than a traditional campground. The Bureau of Land Management site sits on BLM land near Hiko, with a single picnic table and fire ring positioned back in the trees. A cattle pen and staging area occupy the immediate vicinity.
Winter campers should note that canyon shade arrives by 3 PM, causing temperatures to drop rapidly. The campground provides no water, restrooms, or cell service. Pets are not permitted. For campers wanting more developed amenities, Outcrop Rock offers an alternative 8.6 miles south.
