It really depends if you get a good spot. Sometimes it’s super packed. It’s right on the platte River. There’s a swimming pond. The park patrol are very strict, if you make any noise during quiet hours they’ll come after you.
campground layout is not accurate on the website when reserving spot. Great fishing. Playgrounds are old, but kids had a blast
Lots of trees for shade 7 lakes to fish platte river to boat in and 4 area's to choose from for camping tent or rv.
Two rivers is my favorite Nebraska hidden gem! The state Rec Park is by both the Elkhorn and Platte rivers, thus it’s name, Two Rivers.
There are several camping areas, divided into “sub sections”, my favorite place is the cottonwood division (not water hookups but electricity ones work just fine! (Water hook ups are in a different subdivision, but available) the Cottonwood camp area lays right on the Platte River and it is beautiful watching the sunset over the water.
Two rivers has several lakes with a variety of different fishing options, though I must admit we do not fish much! The crowd is always there though, for what it’s worth. A swimming beach for kids, and river access when the river is low enough. I also recommend tubing down the Elkhorn through private companies, like “Uncle Scott’s”. So much fun!
Showers are new, updated and warm! Very friendly people and a wonderful convenient store/shack/breakfast store!
Very nice camp sites and playgrounds for children nice clean fishing lakes and river access.
Take your pick, river or lakeside. Some areas are more modern than others but all are nice. A few have water hookups
We live about 10 minutes from Two Rivers, but we do enjoy getting here for a quick getaway. It is popular for tent campers and RV campers, so plan ahead if you want to book online. Otherwise, you'll have to take your chances and stake your claim with a vehicle and a tent. Not sure of the requirement for campers and RVs. There's something for everyone here, but bring your Skeeter spray! There's also a cute concession store with a great breakfast. Last time I was here, there was a drunk buffoon loudly carrying on late into the night. I was afraid of that this time but it was very quiet. Only late night sound was the occasional hoot of an owl.
If you enjoy some extra comforts, rent one of the train cabooses which feature a small kitchen, bathroom, AC and beds with mattresses. Our kids loved the lofted full sized bed (but we kicked them to the bunk beds). There are charcoal grills outside, a close by swimming area, and lots of space to wander.
We use this campground the most often for our weekend getaways. Our favorite campground is Riverside for tent camping. There are spots where you can tent camp right by the river. It does get loud during weekends but that's because everyone is having so much fun! When the river is low, you can go play on the beach. We've even walked through the water to go play on the "islands". There is a convenience store ran by a very nice family and they make a great breakfast for a low cost. We like to get up early and walk across the park to breakfast and then walk back to our campsite.
Okay, we use this for family weekends and friend gatherings. But, we have also used other campgrounds at Two River SRA for Cub Scout campouts. (It's just safer being away from the water.) The park has many, many opportunities to earn badges. You can even take a short hike into a little outdoor nature classroom.
The park has deer and turkey and many birds. There is also fishing. It's far enough outside of Omaha to feel like a getaway and get back to nature. And close enough to Omaha to not feel like much work to go camping! Enjoy!
