Goldenrod Campground — Two Rivers SRA

Within Two Rivers State Recreation Area, Goldenrod Campground provides one of six camping options managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. This established campground sits adjacent to Lake 4 with direct beach access, though campers report the swimming area can be less than pristine. The facility offers both electric and non-electric sites at $30 per night, with full hookups including water and sewer connections available for RVs.

Sites here are notably large and level, though many lack shade coverage entirely. During heavy rainfall, some lower-elevation sites experience flooding, making higher ground locations preferable. The campground typically fills to capacity, operating a unique walk-up system where campers join a waiting list and return to the main office at 3 PM for site selection. Jared Diana S. notes "Very nice camp sites and playgrounds for children nice clean fishing lakes and river access."

Amenities include restrooms, showers, and a dump station, though the dump station location can be difficult to locate. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, with adequate spacing between neighbors. The campground provides access to fishing on both the lake and nearby Platte River, plus hiking and biking trails throughout the recreation area.

Access roads can become challenging during wet conditions. For those planning extended stays in the region, nearby alternatives include Oak Grove Campground — Two Rivers SRA and Cottonwood — Two Rivers SRA. Goldenrod works well for overnight stops or weekend getaways, particularly for RV campers seeking full hookups near Omaha.

Campers regularly cited large, flat sites and lake access as highlights. Feedback commonly touched on limited restroom facilities and unusual reservation processes, though many found it good for overnight stays.

Amazing

This campground is amazing! I’ve stayed at 100 plus campgrounds and I will say that this one is top 10. The park has beautiful views and the river is not far away.

Does the Trick

This campground is fine, but just fine. The best thing about it is the sites are pretty large and flat. A lot of them have absolutely no shade whatsoever, so be mindful of that. I stayed here on a night where it rained maybe as much as an inch, and some campsites did flood. I stayed at site 104 and it ended up being a good choice because it was shaded and on higher ground. The amenities leave something to be desired; the dump station is hard to find, the bathrooms are in short supply, and the swimming beach is pretty gross. It’s probably the best campground option in Omaha, good for an overnight stay, but I wouldn’t necessarily make a full-blown outing out of this place.

Some beach access

Goldenrod is one of 6 campgrounds at Twin Rivers State Park. Half of this campground has electric and half has none. It is right next to lake 4 with some beach access. There are both reservable and walk up sites here. The walk up process is a little strange. You get put on a waiting list and have to return to main office at 3. Then the start at beginning of list and people start choosing so get on waiting list early. This campground is usually full. There is room between campsites with a picnic table and fire pit.
