Champion Lake State Rec Area

Anglers and boaters will find direct access to Champion Lake at this state-managed recreation area in southwestern Nebraska. The campground sits on the lake's shoreline with dirt sites that lack concrete pads but offer relatively level ground for setup. Sites include both electric hookups with 30 and 50 amp service as well as non-electric options.

Rick W. noted the area "was relatively clean" during his late October visit, when geese were the primary wildlife company. The facility provides basic amenities including drinking water, restrooms, picnic tables, and trash service, with big rigs able to navigate the access roads. Cell service reaches the campground. Campers seeking additional options in the region can explore camping near Enders to the east. The recreation area works well for travelers needing an overnight stop or boondockers comfortable with simple accommodations.

Nice layover spot

Nice little campground when looking for a place to spend the night. On a little lake, was relatively clean. Dirt sites/no pads, but reasonably flat. Stayed here @ the end of October & had the place to ourselves other than the geese. $12 for electric (30 & 50 amp), $7 without. We are ready for boondocking so it fit our needs just fine. We would stay here again if needed.
