Sluice Boxes State Park draws hikers year-round, but the hike-in campground within its boundaries is less widely known. No fire pits, no bathroom facilities, and no drive-up access keep the site primitive by design. Campers carry everything in and out. Those willing to walk far enough from the trail find good separation from day hikers. Managed by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the site is open all year and allows pets. It suits self-sufficient backpackers comfortable sleeping without infrastructure, with camping near Sluice Boxes State Park rounding out options for those who want more developed alternatives nearby.
