Water access is a consistent draw here. Sites park right up against the creek, and reviewers note that spots east of the dam tend to have running water even in drier stretches of summer. Fire rings are present at established sites. Cell service is limited or absent for at least some carriers, so downloading maps beforehand is worth doing. The stay limit runs 16 days.
Friday evenings fill up early. Campers arriving after 5 p.m. on weekends have found most roadside spots taken, with traffic continuing well into the evening. The practical move is to drive one of the side roads rather than turning back; sites farther from the main road open up. Mid-week visits in September still drew a noticeable number of campers, though available spots remained. Norma D. notes "many beautiful, dispersed spots available" with sites "very spaced apart." Trash pack-out is expected, as some reviewers have found litter left behind by previous campers. This spot works best for anglers, hikers, and campers comfortable with dispersed-style setups and no hookups.
