Lewis & Clark National Forest's Judith Basin country holds Hay Canyon, a free, six-site Forest Service campground set within a narrow, forested canyon among large mature trees. The layout splits into two sections of three sites each, with the second group accessible just around a bend on the main road. No water or trash service is available, so campers need to arrive self-sufficient. A vault toilet serves both sections, though reaching it from the second cluster requires a short walk. RVs up to 30 feet can access the drive-in sites, and all sites include picnic tables and metal fire rings. Pets are welcome. Those planning a longer stay in the area can browse campgrounds around Lewis & Clark National Forest to round out an itinerary.
