Lower Stillwater Lake Dispersed — Stillwater State Forest

Stillwater State Forest stretches along the northwestern Montana lakeshore here, where a short dirt road off the highway drops down to a series of informal pullouts above Lower Stillwater Lake. The lake is a short walk downhill and draws local visitors regularly. Access involves two entry points flanking a rocky middle section best avoided by low-clearance or 2WD vehicles; uneven terrain and highway and rail noise are both part of the picture.
