With only six campsites and no restrooms or picnic tables, King Lake Conservation Area runs on the primitive end of the spectrum. Managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation near campgrounds near Cameron, the area sits close to the lake with shoreline access for fishing and wooded cover that provides shade through much of the day. Each site has a fire ring. Resupply is roughly 15 miles out, so arrive prepared. Anglers and campers who want low-density overnight access to a small lake will find this a workable base.
