Jeff Busby Campground, Milepost 193.1 — Natchez Trace Parkway

    Great FREE and cozy camping

This site is a very popular one night stay about mid-point on the Natchez Trace Parkway. The way the campground is constructed makes this a unique place to stay.

The campsites are very close together causing lots of social interactions. That's the best and worst thing about the campground.

The park service provides nice bathrooms, garbage cans throughput the campground, picnic tables and multiple pullouts.

The park also has a paved road and hiking trail to a viewpoint. The road is less than a mile and the trail is over a mile and has some good elevation changes.

We enjoyed the atmosphere of frequent conversations with other campers. Some kept to themselves...we just waived and smiled.

    Peaceful

Many sites decorated for Halloween. Even little trick or treaters. Many sites on the river. Cool to watch the working barges going by. And lots of armadillos.

    Friendly Creek-Side Find

RV spots are suitable for car camping, although a bit close together with bright street lights and showers are outdated. Still, the camp host treated me kindly, and I enjoyed the scenery and walkability!

    Off grid quiet and beautiful.

Beautiful small park. Great riverside pull thru spots. All spots are sizable. Lots of wildlife. Hosts are very helpful. Off grid and quiet with the occasional boat.

    Small but decent

There isn't a lot of space but the bathrooms were decent and they had water spigots and trashcans set up at intervals. It was clean and a pretty area.

Free camping on the Natchez Trace

Paved pull through sites are first come first serve. They seem to over lap and lots of folk share the sites. So you may need to back up to get out, even if it is pull through.
Flush toilets. Picnic area. Nice nature walk to a view, 1 mile each way.

    Quiet in Feb

Nice river front sites on the Ten-Tom waterway. You get to watch river barges approaching the lock/dam. HOT showers. Facilities are aging but in good condition.

    Dump Station!

This is a great place to dump your tanks. Only one problem and we expect it to be resolved soon. The charge is $5.00 but there is no one to pay! The sign claims you can pay in the park, the dump is outside the park, at the entrance or exit. Afterwards we continued to “in the park” to pay with our 53’ rig with car in tow. We looked for a place to pay we gave up and had to try to turn around running over the curb with Motorhome and car we thought we should just mail the fee. A BOX AT THE DUMP STATION SEAM TO BE A SIMPLE FIX.

Nice, quite large pull through sites

Clean, we were here Thanksgiving weekend. Loved every minute. Flushing toilets. Free water. NO DUMP SITE.

October in lots 40 and 42

The campground was full for the fall holiday. However, the energy was great. It was our first time at the park. The hosts were very helpful. The showers and bathrooms are dated but clean. The best views are located on the water in the lots 80-85. Level spaces and easy to back in.

    Neshoba County Lake

    Questionable

Can anyone tell me about the primitive camping? My husband and children are planning a camping trip for this weekend over Mother’s Day, we are new to the neshoba county area. I see that fishing has great reviews, but what other amenities are there? Are pets allowed (on leash of course), kids friendly?

    Great family getaway

Shady & spacious campground along the Tenn-Tom with a boat ramp on calm water just off the main channel. Take your bikes and kayaks!

    Beautiful

This campground was amazing. Our site was right off the lake. The scenery was beautiful, it was quiet, the sites are pretty spread out. Camp sites 3-12 is where you want to be. There is a playground for kids, a boat dock if you have one, or you can just fish right off your site. The camp host was a very helpful and sweet man. We loved this campground and will definitely be back.

    Great for a weekend getaway

Busy campground but enough space so it doesn’t feel like your neighbors are right on top of you. Plenty of shade and many spots have a direct view of the Tenn-Tom Waterway.

    Choctaw Lake

    Quiet and peaceful

Sites 5 and 8 are our favorite. Really, any site on the small lake is great. Those are the smaller number spots. Almost always one available. Large hands in the smaller lake. I haven't even had a bite in the larger lake. This is our local campground and we go a few times a year. No WiFi and very little cell signal, as camping should be. We love it.

    Worst Campground, but Cheap!

    PROS

    Over 65 discount resulted in$15/night

    Quiet

Moveable Wooden metal picnic table in good condition on concrete slab

    Pedestal BBQ grill

    Toilet/shower building has AC

    Clean toilet/shower building

Ample TP, paper towels and soap available in toilet/shower building

    Trash barrel at each campsite

    Park very close to Louisville

    2 bars T-MOBILE

    CONS

No personnel at entrance gate at 1pm and again at 230pm but was at gate 415pm Phone number posted at entrance gate office so I called, but no one answered so left voice message. Still waiting on a call back…yes still...

Site reservation posted to site electrical box which is not viewable from roadway

    No ranger drive thru campground

    No park host

Not dark sky friendly as there are street lights at sites 15 and 11 with 3 street lights at the toilet/shower building

Few of the 15 sites here are level side-to-side. We had to get creative in our site #4 as when parked on the asphalt pad we did not have enough leveling equipment so had to straddle pad with door side on the gravel.

Huge pot holes in the asphalt parking pass site

#4 No campfire“ring” at campsites so we just has a fire on the ground

No privacy from any other site

Shower curtain for toilet stall “doors” in both men and women

    No park WIFI

    Good times

Really nice state park. Recently updated picnic tables. Nice quiet spots. We tent camped on a camper spot. Only complaint is that the showers could use a good remodeling, very dated. Other than that had a great time.

    Nice campground, inundated with ants

Nice state park with many amenities. The campground is located along a lake and many sites have nice views of the water. We were in site 39, a full hookup site with a nice water view. At about 4:00 am, we awoke to find ants invading the trailer. The outside of the trailer was covered with thousands of ants and they were pouring into the trailer. A park employee came in the afternoon and sprayed all entry points around the trailer. We spent all day killing ants in and on our trailer. This continued sporadically over the next few days. The bathouse was clean, but very rundown. If you take ant precautions, this could be a really pleasant stay.

RV? Great! Tent? Not so much…

Quiet except for the sounds of nature. A river runs thru it. Well, next to it. Paved roads X throughout, with was huge for me on a motorcycle. But, the grassy area for my site was all red ants and bull ants. The "pad" was pea gravel, impossible to stake my tent. And, the super nice man running the place informed me I was to set up on the pad. @ The weather called for rain and I was worried about wind.

    RV camping and boat ramp

This is a well maintained site and it is quiet/uncrowded. This site provides about 10-15 camper spots, and there is a small office were you would pay for a spot. There is no place for primitive or tent camping. Not much recreational area also. There is a boat ramp, but it was very shallow and dried up around the shore. A public bathroom is provided, not sure of the quality though.

Jeff Busby Campground, Milepost 193.1 — Natchez Trace Parkway

    Tough for tents

The NPS should absolutely charge a fee for the level amenities. This campground is optimized for RVs. There are pull thru spurs with multiple campsites sites but the tables have been moved and monopolized by RVers…including ones with tent pads. Generators running at 3:00 am. On the plus side, heated bathrooms were absolutely clean. Water fountains are distributed through the campground but one spigot to fill a jug. Good access to Little Mountain Trail. There were six empty sites made unusable by RVs parking in between them. Maybe when a camp host is onsite they will clean this up.
