Lazy D Campground and Trail Rides

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Lazy river tubing on the Whitewater River is the main draw at Lazy D Campground and Trail Rides, a family-oriented campground outside Altura, Minnesota. Staff shuttle tubers by bus back to the put-in after each run, and reviewers consistently note the river is clear and the tubes are well-maintained. The campground also has a pool, playground, and bounce pad, giving families with kids multiple options beyond the water. Sites are drive-in with full hookups available up to 100 feet, and the campground runs from mid-April through late November.

Riverside sites are available. Reviewers note those spots benefit from the sound of moving water, which helps mask road noise from nearby roads. Shade is limited across most of the campground, so campers sensitive to sun exposure should plan accordingly. A small on-site store carries basic supplies, and the campground includes WiFi, showers, and a dump station.

"The service from the workers is absolutely great," noted one reviewer, pointing to the staff as a consistent strength. Pets are allowed, and reservations are available. Minneiska Campground in Whitewater State Park and Cedar Hill Campground in Whitewater State Park are both within a mile for campers who want a state park alternative. Weekends fill quickly during summer tubing season, so booking ahead is advisable if you're planning around the river activity.

The campground is very cute and well kept.

The service from the workers is absolutely great and the campground features a nice lazy river tube ride that you have to experience! The store has Al the essentials and there’s also a nice pool to lounge in.

Great staff!

Fun tubing! Campers are able to sit in the river and “help” tubers along :)

Great staff

We didn’t camp at this campground but we visited for the lazy river tubing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived just before the last lazy river trip started, the staff was clear that we would only get one trip down the river and we were fine with that. The tubes were in great shape, river was a little high but clear of fallen limbs ( for the most part) the woman who drove the bus to pick us up was amazingly friendly, you could tell she loved her job and it made you feel happy to be around her! Everyone had a blast, we will definitely go back!

Quiet Weekend Getaway

Mellow family friendly campground with just enough for the kids to do - playground, bounce pad, tuning, pool. The petting zoo is a bit disappointing but otherwise it is a fantastic place!

River

Our campsite was next to the river, we enjoyed the sound of it drowning out vehicle noise from nearby roads. Most campsites are occupied all year round, not much coverage or shade, there is a pool and playground located here.
