Reservations are available year-round at this full-hookup state park campground on the south shore of Indian Lake, with nightly rates ranging from $32 to $80 depending on site type and hookup configuration. The campground accommodates RVs up to 60 feet with electric, water, and sewer connections, and a dump station is on-site. Sites vary noticeably in size and character. Some are compact, while others are spacious and open, and a number back directly up to the lake with unobstructed water views. Campers who want those lakeside positions should book early, as they are the first to fill.
The site surfaces run mostly grassy, with some more dirt-based spots mixed in. Tree coverage is common across the campground, though not universal. Privacy between sites is limited, so expect neighbors in peak season. Three bathhouses serve the grounds, and multiple reviewers note the facilities are consistently well-maintained. Showers are free, run hot, and have good water pressure. A beach pavilion with picnic tables and a fireplace is available during the day, though it closes at night. Mosquitoes are a known issue in mid-August, so bug spray is worth packing.
The beach itself has shallow, warm water accessible via stairs at several points around the campground, and a boat launch is available for those arriving by water. Fishing access is noted as somewhat limited from the shoreline. Staff are described as friendly and have been known to help campers with local logistics. The park also runs weekly programming for kids. Pets are allowed.
Kitch-iti-kipi, a large natural spring where the water is clear to the bottom, sits a short drive away and comes up repeatedly in reviews as a worthwhile day trip. Fayette State Historic Park and the Manistique River are also within range for those building out a longer itinerary. Campers wanting a different setup on the same lake can look at Indian Lake State Park West Campground — Indian Lake State Park, located about 2.5 miles northwest, or browse campgrounds near Indian Lake State Park for additional options in the area.
Description
