The lake draws heavy weekend and holiday traffic but quiets down considerably during weekdays, according to campers who return regularly. Water access allows for kayaking, including paddle trips to a party store on the opposite shore. For a different camping experience, Manistee National Forest Indian Lake Campground offers forest-based sites about four miles north.
